Last year we provided grants to over 100 diverse groups and organisations across the City of Hobart. APPLY TO OUR 2018 GRANT PROGRAM - APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN In 2017 we awarded 114 grants worth more than $1 million to schools, volunteer groups, artists, art organisations, small businesses, community organisations and festivals across our 18 grant streams. Through this funding we provided assistance to an incredibly diverse range of community projects and events, including vets offering free animal health care to the homeless, community Christmas celebrations and carol events, youth orchestra concerts, zero organic waste strategies for schools, community food gardens, Aboriginal cultural knowledge sharing, the Italian and Greek Festivals, Chinese New Year celebrations, Wooden Boat Festival, Street Art Vibrance Festival, just to name a few. Through our marketing grants, the City also supported small business owners to promote their services and improve their shopfront presence.

These include: • a unit for recycling items such as mobile phones and accessories, toothbrushes, small e-waste, stationery, x-rays, DVDs and CDs, batteries, cosmetic containers & toner cartridges • facilities for recycling paint and paint containers, white goods, e-waste, fluorescent globes, scrap metal, waste engine oil and excess domestic recyclables • flyers showing how to reduce food waste at home through home composting • a waste audit tool kit for loan by schools. QUIDDITCH Harry Potter fans unite – the Australian Quidditch Association is here. Bring a broomstick and a cloak and learn how to play the game made popular by the best-selling book series in history. MEDIEVAL GAMES Wear your best medieval costumes and join The Barony of Ynys Fawr for a different activity each week, including: kubb, archery, sword making and tabletop games. These are family-based sessions.
DISCOSIZE Bring along your dance shoes and glow sticks, these high energy sessions with DRILL Performance will be held in a darkened room with a fusion of dance and toning moves with high/low impact options for all fitness levels and families.
