Introduction

Under theLocal Government Act 1993 our organisation has a responsibility to provide for the welfare of our community, represent and promote their interests and to provide good governance for the City of Hobart. We continue to meet those responsibilities during a time of great change. Hobart is growing and that has been highlighted and accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This paper communicates the outcomes of the Organisational Transformation Project’s Phase 1 which delivers a new high level organisation structure to take us forward. The Project has three phases; Phase 1 started in June 2021 and is now complete. The purpose of this report is to summarise Phase 1 and the journey we, as a team, have taken to develop a contemporary organisational structure.
