SAFE VS RISKY PROBLEMS There are two types of problems in the world. Safe Problems: They exist so we don’t have to deal with the actual problems. Risky Problems: They are your goals, dreams and things that actually matter. In your coaching session, your goal is to switch the client from thinking about a safe problem to thinking about a risky one. “Superficial coaching” deals with safe problems – real, transformational coaching goes deeper than that and deals with risky problems in client’s life. You will find that quite often, the client will show up in a coaching session with a safe problem, which was designed to solve the original and unsolvable problem so they could take their focus away from the real issue. Take this exercise to discover how these problems play out in your own (and your client’s) life:
