awesome in a skill saves a bunch of heartache and whinging. We're going to f#@k up. Probably today. It will be okay if it's one step of thousands you're prepared to take. It's all over if you think you only have a few more steps in you.” It’s the persistence that will pay off. It’s not the great idea. The bold claims. The promises made when we’re excited. It’s what we do, day after day after day. And what I see in our community is many people who get that. It’s a rare thing, so don’t take it for granted if it’s in you. Sharon

SHARON PEARSON
THE MONTH IN BRIEF THE LAST MONTH HAS BEEN PRETTY BIG, GIVEN I’VE BEEN IN THE U.S. FOR TWO WEEKS AND WE’VE DELIVERED OUR QUARTERLY MASTER CLASS AND THINK TANKS, AND RUN CLASSES.
1
PREPARING FOR THE FIVE DAY CLOSED DOOR EVENT:
Went really well with new members accessing the classes Owen Cope provides and getting their questionnaires in.
2
MASTERCLASS:
Great turn out! Nearly every member was in the room, and many of those who could make it reached out and connected with me personally. We covered Consultative Sales and some IT stuff (that I never want to have to talk about… ever again – thanks to everyone in the room who supported me through that part of the presentation, much appreciated, and you know who you are – you got the chocolate!).
Also went into ESIP – can’t seem to give enough of this for you all, and still more distinctions, which is great. Ilse Strauss delivered an afternoon session – check out her article in this mag; and James Darling delivered a session to the second year and third year V.I.P.’s on business planning with many requests for more on this. We also came up with the idea of the Social Entrepreneur’s Club, which has since begun and is up to around 40 members; more on that later. There was plenty of support for each other in the room and during the breaks. Everyone appreciated the Moon Bear Café and what the space represents in terms of coming together and the fruition of a very long dream!

3
THINKTANKS:
All I can say is, ‘It rocked.’ My lips are sealed!
4
HOTSEATS:
Very necessary conversations about owning your space instead of pursuing a niche, and why it matters to care so much for your posse rather than trying to find one. Worth listening to.
5
FIVE DAY CLOSED DOOR EVENT:
Biggest ever, and in our new campus, so lots of atmosphere. Rookies mingled with more experienced business owners and learned about launch strategies, the 3 C’s of Marketing and what’s at the heart of an outstanding business (and about a few hundred other things but let’s leave it there). Kudos to Alison Crabb, Genevieve Matthews and Shane Boyd for coming along as guest speakers and sharing the lessons, the setbacks, the wins and their wisdom. Your insights are much appreciated.
YOUR THOUGHTS
THE SHARING, GIVING, LOVING, AND CARING FOR EVERY PERSON IN THE ROOM IS SETTING THE STANDARD AND BENCHMARK FOR ME TO PAY IT FORWARD TO THE COMMUNITY. ELIZA DOUEIHI
Thanks of course to Owen Cope for his delivery of the needed IT knowledge so it’s demystified for us. Your message is always appreciated!

MEMBER’S QUESTION QUESTION:
WHAT IS ODESK AND ELANCE AND HOW CAN THEY HELP MY BUSINESS? ANSWER: ODesk, Elance, Vworker, Freelancer.com and Guru are freelancing sites that facilitate and streamline the process of hiring virtual, or remote, workers. Each of these sites have their own approach, but in essence, all of these companies allow you to do more or less the same thing: You can post a job description, have people bid on the work, negotiate on price, and look at previous ratings and work history before settling on either a contract rate, or a pay-per hour agreement.
sometimes things that make sense to you will make no sense at all to someone who has no involvement with your project 4. Invite workers who have matching experience. For instance, if you are looking for Wordpress help, search for workers with Wordpress experience and good ratings. 5. HERE ARE 5 TIPS TO GET YOU STARTED:

1. Write your description as if you are explaining them to a 10 year old child
In shor t, ODesk, Elance, Vworker, Freelancer.com and Guru can assist you with both short and medium term solutions

sales skills and increase my value to be able to do that; which is why I joined MM in the room. I still remember my hands shaking when I joined MM yet I knew this is the right place to grow myself and be the person I
There were skills and tactics that are super great, yet the biggest value for me was learning ‘How to Think’, learning business mindset, and hanging around and bouncing ideas with some awesome people. Doing that really helped stretch me and my business :)

WHERE WERE YOU AT WHEN YOU STARTED OUT IN TERMS OF MINDSET? WHERE ARE YOU NOW? I have a positive mindset at that time, yet it was very unresourceful when I look back at it now. I was positive that I will make it and I will do the work and I will give back to the community, yet it was all about me! It was about me getting something first before I can give back. (Big surprise why business didn’t grow then!) Since joining MasterMind and going through NLP Master Prac and NLP Trainers I have grown a lot! (still much more to grow, but I've grown a lot!) I now know I came from a much more abundant space to give. I give because I know I have lots to give and I do this now without expecting to get anything back. I’m still a rookie at this and especially in mindset, there is so much more space for me to grow up to which is exiting!!
The second one is to have Gratitude from where you were, where you are and where you will get it. This made a massive difference in the way I feel about how much value I already have within me and realising that all I need is already within me now. The third one is: Build your wings as you are free falling from the cliff. This is the other version of say Yes and work out how! I know this has been said at Intake Weekend yet since hearing and seeing other MM living it, is when the big difference in me happened.
WHAT DOES THE YEAR AHEAD HOLD FOR YOU THAT YOU’RE MOST EXCITED ABOUT? I’m super exited to run consistent trainings and coaching both in Australia and Indonesia!! I will be doing lots of training in the business, corporate and individual personal development level and also my own NLP Prac training!!
WHAT ARE THE THREE KEY MESSAGES YOU BELIEVE HAVE MADE THE MOST DIFFERENCE TO YOU? The first one is: Serve from where you are. This was the first message I got in MM and it was a huge AHA moment for me. Once I started doing that, there are lots more opportunities in front of me straight away.
I’m exited for the success, the f*ck ups, the laughter, the sweat, the work and more importantly the ripples that will happen this year. I know I am at the right time, place and am surrounded with the right community to be able to serve and create the best year yet for the people around me and myself.

INSIDE SCOOP I JAMES DARLING
LEADING THE CHANGE SUPPORTING YOUR CLIENT DURING PERIODS OF CHANGE identified building the need for others to be part of it is your first challenge. When you give them part of it, also give them the authority and control to act upon it. Share the power so that they do not feel powerless. You want them to feel useful and enthusiastic. Make them feel needed, that the change could not happen without them! Kurt Lewin (1951) theorized that there are three stages to change:
UNFREEZING
MARTIN LUTHER KING DID NOT SAY, “I HAVE A VERY GOOD PLAN,” HE SHOUTED, “I HAVE A DREAM!” THE FIRST STEP IS TO PROVIDE PASSION AND A STRONG SENSE OF PURPOSE OF THE CHANGE FOR YOUR CLIENT. Feelings are contagious. When someone around you is flat, it’s hard to be up. Likewise, when someone is passionate about something, it can have an inspiring effect. Once the need for change has been
Old ideals and processes must be tossed aside so that new ones may be learned. Often, getting rid of the old processes is just as difficult as learning new ones due to the power of habits. Just as a teacher erases the old lessons off the chalkboard before beginning a new lesson, so must a leader help to clear out the old practices before beginning the new. During this part of the process, you as the Leader/Coach/ Mentor support the unlearning in preparation of the new learning and a lot of cheerleading (emotional support) to break the old habits.

CHANGING The steps to the new ideals are learned by practicing:
RANDOM THOUGHT
WHAT I HEAR, I FORGET. WHAT I SEE, I REMEMBER. WHAT I DO, I UNDERSTAND. — Kung Fu Tzu ( ). Although there will be confusion, overload and despair, there will also be hope, discovery, and excitement. This is the period where you as the coach help maintain the energy, manage the doubt and support the application. You are the cheerleader.....
REFREEZING The new processes are now intellectually and emotionally accepted. What has been learned is now actually being practiced An old mentor of mine once said. “The only time you stop pedalling is when you are going downhill” I am not advocating change for change sake, however if we are always pedalling and always moving then we may as well be moving in the right direction.

E.S.I.P. FROM ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE Can’t say how many conversations I drop in on where people are into ‘tasks’ and not ‘mission’ or ‘environment’. So it’s like this… ‘We need to do this and this and this… and then this…’ ‘But what about this…’ ‘And this…’ Instead of…
‘WE’RE HERE TO CREATE THE WORLD’S BENCHMARK FOR RUNNING EVENTS. IT’S TO BE THE MODEL OF EXCELLENCE AROUND THE WORLD, WHERE OTHERS COME TO SEE HOW WE DO IT. TO ACHIEVE THIS, THERE ARE SOME THINGS WE CAN BRAINSTORM, WHICH WILL MOVE US TOWARDS OUR GOAL…’
And then… ‘…What about this?’ and discuss it. Then everyone is on the same page, facing the same direction and here for the same reasons. It seems so obvious to me.

WHAT THE TRILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY OF FRANCHISING KNOWS AND TRIES TO KEEP FROM EVERYDAY BUSINESS OWNERS HE WAS WATCHING INTENTLY THE O P E R AT I O N M E S M E R I Z E D A N D INTRIGUED BY WHAT HE SAW.
mastering production lines to create a turnkey model of business which became known as the ‘franchising model’.
FOR IT WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD EVER COME ACROSS ANYTHING LIKE IT.
The gold in a franchising model is that it hits all the right notes in conversations around sustainability, replicability and scale-ability.
FORGET ‘WHAT’ THEY WERE OFFERING ACROSS THE COUNTER… LESS INTERESTED IN WHAT THE CUSTOMERS WERE BUYING BUT COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY SPELLBOUND BY WHAT HE SAW HAPPENING ‘BEHIND CLOSED DOORS’.
The franchising model is a trillion dollar industry globally because the product that it sells is the business, which is build upon a tried and proven turnkey system.
You see, Ray Kroc saw the efficiency of operations that set off the chain reaction that produced the copycat burgers one after each other – and that sparked off an idea that would revolutionize the typical business format. He appreciated more so the production line that was operated by teenagers. Teenagers of low skill but yet they produced consistent results each and every time. How? Ray Kroc cultivated a new paradigm shift – and that shift was taking the operations of a business, elevating the efficiencies and
Meaning that you put the key in – turn it – and the business works. Effectively, the systems have been tried, tested and

proven, the procedures for that type of business have been drawn up and you daily agenda has already been mapped out. And this is what I want to talk to you about today. Not about a ‘franchising model’ because I vehemently disagree with many of the other principles that ‘franchising’ built upon, but instead I want to pull out the components of the model that work exceptionally well, that have created such a beast of an industry that every day mums and dads are flocking to, to secure their riches and gold.
System creation and execution of activities within the turnkey model under its forefather - franchising - is often reduced to a ‘task’, in effect all the ‘implementation’ and detail. Which is part of parcel of the issues with franchising. And in writing your Excellence Operating Procedures (EOP’s), of which you will create one for each activity that occurs in your business - you must ensure that you recognize how ESIP plays out in achieving this.
The reason why every business owner, entrepreneur and CEO needs to take notice of the turnkey model is because it answers the burning questions asked by business owners daily around maximizing their
A SIMPLE WAY THAT I TEACH TO DO THIS IS WITHIN THIS SIMPLE FORMAT:
capacity for increased productivity and being smarter about how to actually run their business.
GOAL
More importantly, it shines brightly upon the answer to how to co-ordinate daily and other recurring tasks because effectively each time the ‘start button’ is hit on an activity – a chain reaction occurs. You see, the beauty of the turnkey model which is the foundation of franchising, is that the operations (the ‘task’ function of the business) is made to be easy, simple and therefore appealing. And there are a number of principles that the turnkey model is built upon that allows for the ease of operation to come to fruition.
DEAL WITH THE ‘WHY’ AND THE BIG PICTURE GOAL OF THE ACTIVITY. EG. TO BE THE GO TO PROVIDER IN MY INDUSTRY. OBJECTIVES WHAT DOES YOUR FOCUS NEED TO BE TO ACHIEVE THIS? EG. TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY CONTENT AND BUILD MY DATABASE. STRATEGY HOW WILL YOU DO THIS? WHAT STRATEGIES WILL YOU USE? EG. LANDING PAGE, ESTABLISHING PARTNERSHIPS ETC.
MASTERMIND MONTHLY | January 2013 | 16
Feel free to share this publication with your friends, family, colleague... anyone who might find its content useful
BENCHMARKS WHAT ARE THE BENCHMARKS AND FRAMEWORKS OF THINKING THAT YOU NEED ADDRESS? EG. IN MARKETING ACTIVITIES YOU WOULD NOTE ‘CIALDINI’S LAWS, RESULTS IN ADVANCE ETC. PROCEDURES PROVIDE ALL THE DETAIL REQUIRED, INCLUDING SCREENSHOTS, CAMTASIA VIDEOS, STEP BY STEP – EXPLAIN HOW THE ACTIVITY GETS DONE FROM START TO FINISH SO THAT ‘TWELVE YEAR OLD TURNKEY TOMMY’ COULD DO IT :) KPI’S HOW YOU WILL QUANTIFY THIS ACTIVITY? WHAT ARE SPECIFIC MEASURABLE THAT WILL GIVE YOU HARD FACTS ON THE RESULTS? EITHER IN %, $ OR TRAFFIC #.
SO LET’S HAVE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE PRINCIPLES AT PLAY IN THE TURNKEY MODEL: LOWEST SKILLED The first benchmark that the turnkey model rests upon is that the lowest skilled person should be able to perform the monotonous duties required in the business. If you think about flipping hamburgers or the uni student standing behind the counter at McDonalds, its easy to see how the most manual labour intensive roles are carved out for any individual to easily perform.
CONSISTENCY If you appreciate that your market relishes in consistent service and product then you will
MASTERMIND MONTHLY | January 2013 | 17

recognize that the turnkey model sets this up from the start. When you create the systems, the tasks and the standards required each and every time the process is in action, and only allows for human error to mess it up. And the benchmark for ensuring that the result in service and product is consistent is to create clear and concise
PROVEN RESULTS Each time an activity is engaged, then within the context of the turnkey model, you will create a new operational system for this which means that they next time the activity needs to be complete then you already

have documented a proven method of completing it.
TRUST
So start with the basics, the daily tasks that need to get done. From opening up the office to closing the office – that way you
How many businesses will you continue going back to because you trust the service they provide? The trust factor, while underestimated, is a critical component of measuring the success of the turnkey model because if your market comes to expect a certain standard of service then you know you have established the right systems that bring about the experience they want to receive.
SELF-MANAGEMENT Because all operational systems are already designed by the mastermind of the business (you) it allows for your activities to be preplanned and prepared for. This means all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual tasks are already co-ordinated into your operations so that you are always organized and ready to do business.
can outsource administration functions soon. A simple way to do this is to keep have a Master Template as provided above so that every day you can document new systems based on every day activities and it gets filed away. Even down to the projects that you complete need to be formatted with the project sitting in the ‘Procedures’ with it’s own timelines, and risk assessments contained within.
SO ENJOY THE PROCESS BECAUSE IT WILL IMMEDIATELY ALLOW YOU TO FREE UP YOUR TIME TO CONCENTRATE ON PROFIT BUILDING ACTIVITIES. KNOWING WHAT TO DO NEXT IS ALWAYS ABOUT PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST.
LET US KNOW HOW YOU’RE GOING :)

Yes, the Five Day Closed Door is new content, and yes it will stretch you, but really, if all that is stretched is our minds, what's the problem? The REAL fear is not what will be taught in the room, it's what will you do with it the
source of all fear is 'Am I enough?' And yes, some people do fuck all with what we teach. Expensive lesson in 'I don't care THAT much about my results’, yes? Just set an intention to do SOMETHING every single day, or week, to move your business forward using what we teach. And even if it takes time for
you to start seeing results, remember, most people never dared dream they would have their own business, let alone act on it and do something about that dream. So give yourself time - most MasterMinders say things start clicking about the 18 month mark... and if you're for real about your 10 year vision, that's a short time span for shit to happen.”
