Practical application lies at the heart of our Counseling programs. All students put their coursework to the test in meaningful, supervised internships. School Counseling students have two internships at different grade levels conducted in a variety of educational settings; Mental Health Counseling students complete an in-depth year-long clinical placement. Our emphasis on social justice and multicultural perspectives — regarding race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age, religion/spirituality, class and disability — is what sets Saint Rose Counseling programs apart.
Programs Professional School Counseling: Centered on the American School Counseling Association national model, the curriculum leads to provisional certification in New York State as a School Counselor. Mental Health Counseling: Students acquire the skills to address the clinical needs of individuals, families, and groups of all ages in a vast spectrum of settings. Courses cover the gamut of counseling topics including group counseling, family counseling, trauma, substance abuse, and more. Certificate of Advanced Study: Students who have already completed a master’s degree in Counseling or a related field may advance their careers by earning a Certificate of Advanced Study.
