Graduate Program Four distinct schemes make the College’s program in Educational Psychology an ideal preparation for a wide range of careers.

Schemes General Educational Psychology: Students typically choose this scheme when seeking professional certification as a pre K-12 public school teacher in New York. Courses cover such topics as behavioral management, development, diversity, educational administration, educational technology, and learning/motivation. This scheme is also appropriate for students seeking to work in educational programs in community, organizational or business settings Research: Students in this scheme are usually aiming for their Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an eye toward a career in educational research. They work closely with a Saint Rose faculty member to become thoroughly trained in both qualitative and quantitative studies. School Psychology: Suitable for those seeking a Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S.) in School Psychology, this scheme is designed to help students meet the requirements of the National Association for School Psychologists (NASP), from which the program has received accreditation.

Program Evaluation and Applied Research: The courses and practicum in this scheme provide real-life experience in instrument development, testing, and measurement. Students learn to use established theory to judge the value of a program based on objectives and outcomes. Graduates go on to careers in program evaluation at educational institutions, non-profit organizations, commercial services, and government agencies.

Faculty The faculty in this department — all of whom hold the highest degree in Educational Psychology — have authored books, presented at elite conferences, conducted significant research, and written for the field’s most respected journals, among other activities. As a result, they bring a substantial depth of knowledge, together with awareness of the latest trends in educational psychology, to their students.

Remarkable Outcomes One alumna has become the learning leader for leadership development at GE Energy’s Global Learning Organization. Another served as assistant commissioner in the New York State Education Department. Still others have built productive careers in research, program evaluation, staff training and development, data analysis, and teaching, among other professions.

Saint Rose graduates have become assistant commissioners, leaders of global learning organizations, program evaluators, school psychologists, eminent researchers, and excellent teachers with motivated students.

Graduates who choose the concentration in program evaluation and applied research are in high demand and often earn starting salaries of $45,000 – $55,000.
