Undergraduate Programs Learn about psychology’s rapidly emerging fields through courses in social neuroscience, forensic psychology, forgetting and amnesia, the psychology of love, and the study of death. Complete a concentration in behavioral neuroscience, clinical/ counseling psychology, health psychology, human development, or industrial/organizational psychology. Delve into research through two courses on research methods and a senior capstone experience, where students design and carry out a major project.

Many Saint Rose Psychology students present the results of their research at the annual meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association and have received awards and recognition from Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology.

For a semester, travel to SWPS, the leading private University of Social Sciences in Poland, and complete a special educational certificate in Psychological Diagnostics and Assessment or Individuals in a Group as part of a formal agreement between our institutions — or spend a semester abroad at any number of other countries.

Faculty All faculty members in Psychology hold their Ph.D. degrees and average more than 15 years of college teaching experience. They have edited books and government reports, published in their fields’ leading journals, been invited speakers at symposia and conferences, and earned a variety of other distinctions. Their research interests span the gamut of psychology, from relationship studies and sexuality to neuroscience and the Holocaust.

Internships and Field Experiences Psychology students have successfully interned at some of the most respected institutions in New York’s Capital Region: Albany Medical College (psychiatry, pediatrics, and neuroscience), St. Peter’s Health Care Services (pediatrics, hospice, and alcohol rehabilitation), the Samaritans Suicide Prevention Hotline, St. Anne’s Institute, the Parsons Child and Family Center, and the New York State Police, among many others.

EXTRACURRICULARS Get involved with the Psychology Club and Psi Chi – the international honor society in psychology – and partake in fundraisers, engage in community service activities at local hospitals, and invite prominent psychologists in the field to Saint Rose.


Remarkable Outcomes Saint Rose graduates have become licensed psychologists, professors, school administrators, athletic directors, research scientists, account executives, and forensic specialists, among other careers. Many psychology graduates have gone on from Saint Rose to earn their Ph.D. degrees and pursue research in related fields.
