REYNOLDSBURG CITY SCHOOLS Our Reynoldsburg Schools Community recognizes the benefits of travel to developing a well-rounded student education. Not only does travel allow students authentic practice on their language skills, but it can be extremely important for college admissions, career opportunities, and personal development. With that in mind, we will be proposing the following trips to the Board of Education for the 2018-2019 school year. Our goal would be to offer similar trips on a year to year basis, in order to allow as many students as possible this amazing opportunity to travel. Below is a menu of travel options that will be proposed for Board approval for the 201819 school year. For more information about individual trips, please contact the teachers listed below.

CHINA • Mid-June of 2019 • Only cost to students is the international airfare to and from China (usually around $2000). All in country expenses, including meals, transportation, and accommodations are covered by Hanban. • There is Chinese language instruction involved in the itinerary, so this trip is recommended for students with some background in the language. NEW YORK • October 25-28, 2018 • $800 per student. Half paid this year and half paid next year • Students will see literature come alive on stage at a Broadway play • Students will visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and learn about the history of our country • Students will experience the busy city life of New York City, visit Central Park filled with autumn leaves, and view the skyline from The Rock. REYNOLDSBURG CITY SCHOOLS COSTA RICA • March 15-24, 2019 • $2600 per student ($2400 with early sign up) • Students will learn about rainforest conservation efforts as they hike through the cloud forests of Monteverde and tour the rainforest of Manual Antonio, taking time to plant a tree along the way. •

Students will get a lesson in international economics as they tour one of Costa Rica's many coffee plantations and learn how the bean goes from the field to the cafes where they are enjoyed. And why coffee is such a strong economic staple of Costa Rica. Students will develop an appreciation for linguistic and cultural diversity as they experience Costa Rica’s unique Spanish dialect, music, outdoor markets, and foods. FRANCE • May 31-June 8, 2019 • Approximately $3750 per student (payment plans available) • Students will visit iconic sites in the Paris area such as the Louvre Museum (home of the Mona Lisa), Notre Dame Cathedral, and the palace of Versailles. • Students will visit UNESCO World Heritage sites Chambord Castle and Mont St Michel. • Students will visit the D-Day beaches and the American Cemetery, linking in their study of US history with that of France. • Students will sample a variety of French traditional cuisine in a variety of dining settings. While students do NOT have to speak French to benefit from this trip, students will have the opportunity to hear, read and speak French daily! ITALY/GREECE • June 4th, 2019 • $4245 per student • Students will be immersed in the ancient civilizations of Rome and Greece. They will have the opportunity to see in person the Roman Coliseum and Ruins of ancient Rome, and then visit the ruins of Pompeii.
