ALL ABOARD FOR A BOATING BLOCKBUSTER
Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is set to wow with a showstopping lineup of new launches, major exhibitors and lifestyle experiences.
THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE’S marquee marine event returns to the stunning waterfront location of Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast in May for its biggest and best showcase of innovation and industry firsts to date.
Attracting more than 51,000 attendees and 300-plus exhibitors and displaying over 600 boats and 1,000 marine products, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) is the must-attend event for boating lifestyle aficionados and industry movers and shakers.
The 33rd annual SCIBS welcomes a blockbuster lineup of industry-leading brands, exhibiting everything from the latest marine gadgets and must-have technology to a massive display of trailer boats, powerboats and prestigious superyachts.
Across four days from 19 to 22 May, this year’s action-packed event promises boatloads of immersive activities with live entertainment stages, fishing demonstrations, street performers and a fun-filled kids zone.
Returning for SCIBS 2022 is The Lagoon Lounge, an ‘upper-deck’ luxury destination and VIP experience for event attendees to live the aspirational superyacht lifestyle with a smorgasbord of delicious cuisine and premium beverages catered by the 5-star InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.
Presented by Mulpha Events, General Manager Johan Hasser says SCIBS will continue to surprise and delight eventgoers with showstopping moments from luxury experiences to the Show’s largest on-water display of marine vessels.
“SCIBS 2022 is our biggest show on water with major exhibitors displaying everything from best-in-class superyachts through to trailer boats and stand-up paddleboards plus the latest marine gear and gadgets,” Johan says.
SCIBS 2022 has attracted a record number of prominent exhibitors with 25,000sqm showcase space dedicated to trailer boats to meet increased consumer demand, more premium inclusions and additional covered display space on water.
Among the premium brands taking prime position on the water are Maritimo, Horizon Yacht Australia, Princess Yachts, Riviera, Palm Beach, Alexander Marine, Integrity, Whitehaven, Eyachts, Fleming, Beneteau, Axopar, Lagoon, Leopard Catamaran and Iliad.
Trailerable boats, watersports and inflatable craft also have a prominent presence with the likes of Quintrex, Yamaha, Jeanneau, Northside Marine, JSW Powersports, Sea-Doo, Nautique, Stejcraft, BRIG, Sailfish Catamarans, Voyager Catamarans, Mercury, Zodiac, Honda and Mastercraft on board.
The latest marine gear and gadgets will also be on display with Garmin, Fusion, Navionics, Raymarine, Dometic, Lowrance, VETUS-Maxwell, International Paint, Awlgrip, Dockmate and BLA highlighting their high-tech innovations in The Pavilions.
SCIBS 2022 marks a momentous milestone with major partner Bentley Brisbane & Gold Coast celebrating a decade-long association with four custom cars commissioned for the occasion.
After the phenomenal success of the 2021 event, SCIBS is buoyed by the huge number of brands lining up to showcase their vessels and products at the 2022 Show.

Horizon FD75 Open Flybridge

“We have seen the increased popularity of boating as a fun and safe lifestyle activity with wide appeal and the subsequent upward trend in boat ownership in Australia,” Johan says.
Australian Marine Centre (AMC) Boats Dealer Principal Rod Elliott affirms this trend, saying the marine and leisure boat specialist has seen a huge surge in demand with production for many brands sold out for 2022 and into 2023.
“We will have the best brands on display at SCIBS 2022, including the Australian release of the Invincible 33ft catamaran as well as a range of Bar Crusher, Haines Signature, Aquamaster, Contender, Tidewater and Ranieri boats,” Rod says.
JSW Powersports will also showcase industryleading brands such as Sea-Doo Watercraft, Can-Am Off-Road and On-Road ranges, Sea Fox Boats, Malibu Boats and Axis Boats and their latest brand addition, SEA-BOB-Jets.
In the luxury category, Horizon Yacht Australia achieved record sales of $150M in new models last year with production booked out until early 2023 due to the popularity of the Horizon FD series.
“Horizon will display three brand-new FD models at SCIBS 2022: Horizon FD75 Open Flybridge, a four-stateroom yacht; Horizon FD80 Skyline stock boat and the Horizon FD90 Skyline, which is fast becoming one of the world’s most sought-after mid-range motor yachts,” Horizon Yacht Australia’s Managing Director Mark Western says.
Riviera Owner Rodney Longhurst says the luxury brand will bring its largest Australian showcase of 12 distinctive motor yachts to Sanctuary Cove, including the boat show premiere of the exceptional new Riviera 78 Motor Yacht and two new models that are yet to be officially announced.
Palm Beach will also be back at SCIBS where CEO Mark Richards says attendees can view the sleek Palm Beach GT60 cruiser, game-changing Grand Banks 60 model and other premium, motor yachts in the award-winning range. "SCIBS 2022 is an unmissable event," says Johan. “We are excited to welcome new and returning exhibitors and visitors to enjoy the very best the marine lifestyle has to offer in the stunning surrounds of Sanctuary Cove.”
