Tips from previous students •
“use past papers and specifications (they tell you what you need to know)”
•
“Start early, I wish I had”
•
“I found it hard to do, but create and stick to your revision timetable”
•
“Attend support”
•
“Speak to teachers, they actually want to help”
Tips for Students Managing Stress 1. TALK TO PEERS/PARENTS/CARERS/TEACHERS 2. Get a balance between revision and social life 3. Manage your time by starting early
Its likely and NORMAL that you will experience some form of anxiety in the run up to exams. Remember that a certain level of stress is performance enhancing. When stress becomes unmanageable then you need to take action
4. Healthy diet and drink lots of water 5. Adequate sleep—put your phone in another room (buy an alarm clock if you need to!) 6. Exercise—this releases happy hormones (endorphins) 7. Avoid unrealistic expectations—are they coming from you, or someone else? 8. Keep things in perspective
Timeline
To Do Get organized ASAP Tidy your desk—you need a space to work Collect revision materials

If you haven’t already, begin reading newspaper articles/online blogs/ magazine/extracts from pre-19th century novels– you don’t need to read an entire Dickens’ text but becoming familiar with the language will help and prepare you for an unseen extract! Create a glossary of new words that you come across. 3. Practise writing skills-ask your friends/family to give you an object or a title. Spend 10 minutes writing a plan and then attempt to write a description or narrative based on this. 4. Revisit/study/practise spellings, different types of punctuation and sentence

TOP TIPS FOR MATHS REVISION
Www.justmaths.co.uk
1. DO maths, don’t just read a revision guide. The best way to improve is by practising questions—buy a revision workbook / use revision websites such as corbettmaths.com. Attend maths support on a Mon lunch in E6. 2. Redo questions more than once. If you have revised a particular topic— revisit it a couple of days later to consolidate your knowledge. 3. Practise your checking techniques—make sure you substitute your answer back in to the question / check your answer makes sense etc. Do this as part of your revision so it becomes routine.

Also have a nice selection of adjectives at hand to help give these opinions. 4. Have a go at as many of the past papers as you can and the exam style questions on BBC Bitesize.

sion lists should be ticked off as each topic is covered. A3 booklets (for year 10 exams and final year 11 exams) should be completed in as much detail as possible using your textbook, exercise book and revision guide. This is time consuming (but very worthwhile) and will take at least 2 hours per topic.
COURSE FORMAT Physical Geography topics will be covered in the summer term of year 9 and throughout year 10.
Human Geography topics will be covered during year 11. Two field trips will be completed during the summer term of year 10: a morning in Gloucester City Centre and a day in the Forest of Dean examining changes in a river.
2. For case studies, record accurate facts, figures, names of places on flash cards or the grids provided. Use your exercise book as well as your textbook. 3. Read / look / cover / write out / check for all diagrams and case study facts. 4. Watch GCSE Geography videos on Youtube—particularly for the physical geography topics.
5. Remember your exam techniques: GSE for describe questions; manipulate data; include figures; use connectives when explaining; use PEE for longer questions; include place specific detail, answer every question. 6. Complete all practice questions provided in the A3 booklets. Redo exam questions included in year 10 and 11 exams. Papers will also be available on the OCR website.

TOP TIPS FOR HISTORY REVISION
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ gcsebitesize/history/mwh/ (For content, not exam practice)
1.
Don’t rely on one source of information when making revision notes: use your exercise book, textbook and revision guide.
2.
Learn the content in detail: annotate the revision guide by adding extra notes and judgements to key points; create flashcards for key individuals and key events; create timelines for all topics to gain an overview of all key events and changes; create concept maps to help identify links between causes and consequences; complete 16 marker advice sheets handed out in lessons; tick off each topic on your revision list as you complete it.
3.
Be very familiar with exam techniques: use the support sheet distributed in class; practise each type of question for the relevant topics; practise writing questions in the correct time allocated within exams.
4.
Be very familiar with how much time is needed for each type of question: consider answering the longer questions first in exams followed by the shorter questions i.e. complete the exam paper in reverse.
5.
Watch relevant video clips on YouTube especially the BBC clips on Medicine through Time.

Each sport is marked out of 25 and you will have also completed your NEA Part 3 (strengths & weaknesses) which is also work 25 marks, making a total of 100 marks available for your practical.
TOP TIPS FOR GC SE PE 1. Your folder and school work is your best asset for revision. Each topic has a number of exam questions, content and examples of everything which has been covered and could come up in the papers. You need to ensure your folder is well organised and complete. 2. AO1, AO2 & AO3—you need to fully understand the difference between the different assessment objectives (AO) and be able to structure a response to each command word within an exam question. The command word will dictate which AO is being asked! 3. Use the self assessment and course overview to structure your own revision and highlight topic areas which are a concern. You should then be looking at these topic areas in more detail. 4. Attend the PE revision sessions which will be organised from January. These sessions run on Tuesday Week 1 (Paper 2 with AB/AHt) and a Wednesday Week 2 (Paper 1 with AS). Both sessions will run from 1:30pm in S1. You have to attend at least 10 of the 12 sessions to be invited to the final session which will include free pizza!
