Before the two weeks before your birthday, Facebook will display a prompt in your news feed that will render you the option to create a fundraiser for the list of 750,000 non-profit organizations. After doing this, on your birthday, all your friends will get the notification inviting them to donate money to that particular cause. And the fundraiser will get directly ends at midnight.
After the friends donate their money, they will get a receipt by email, according to the release. Facebook said that if any nonprofit organization received $100 with the Facebook payments gets eligible with them. And if it fails to receive at least $100, the funds will get roll over until it receives the money.
For all the nonprofits who are not registered with the Facebook payments, the donations are distributed through the online fundraising platform “Network for Good.� If the nonprofit is not registered with that network, a check will be mailed to the organization. Facebook will also charge five percent as the operational fees on the donations.
