Halfway through March, everyone in Akron, like everyone around the world, was waylaid by the spread of COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Normally, our team, lead by editor-in-chief Rosalie Murphy, plans a month to six weeks out, but suddenly, we were working more like a daily newsroom, covering news as it broke and turning stories quickly to meet our community's needs. We couldn't have executed a brand new plan that evolved everyday without the army of amazing contributors who jumped into action to write, photograph and edit. That's true for every issue we've ever published, but this one is special because in the throes of a global pandemic, everyone on this team showed up to do their part for Akron, supporting our local artists, musicians, performers, writers, small businesses and nonprofit organizations through this extremely challenging time. While you stay home for the public good, we hope you enjoy this issue, whether you're holding the print edition or your tablet.
