EXHIBITION

Maggie Madden :: Far and Wide In Maggie Madden’s work, a diverse array of collected materials are crafted into fragile sculptural formations with geometric affinities. During the process of construction the physical limits of the materials are taken into account, as there is an attempt made at rendering some materials to appear almost weightless. Tension is created as the sculptural formations often have a fragility that teeters on the brink of collapse. Maggie Madden is from Connemara, Co Galway, currently living and working in Dublin. She completed a Masters in Fine Art at NCAD in 2006 and B.A. Fine Art Painting from Limerick School of Art and Design in 1998.

John Brady :: Travelling, Drawing Last year, John Brady travelled around the globe, drawing all the while. He posted 22 sketchbooks back to his home in Galway over the course of the year. This is an exhibition of those drawings. John Brady is an artist from Westport, County Mayo. He is Lecturer in Fine Art at GMIT, Cluain Mhuire, Galway and Castlebar, where he founded the part-time degree in painting course. He has an MA in Fine Art (Distinction) from Winchester School of

Acoustic Motion

dance theatre & music for kids

This is an exciting opportunity for kids to work with Dock resident artists, musician and composer Cathal Roche and performance and visual artist Kate Wilson, on a week long cross-arts event. Wilson and Roche have collaborated on a number of residencies and performances involving physical theatre, dance and improvised music in their professional work. The Dock is delighted they are now also bringing this work to the Docks summer workshop programme for children. Over the week participants will learn the exciting skills of improvisation in music (Instrumental and voice) and in dance theatre, how to work solo, duet and group work, creating their own compositions, as well as developing confidence as performers. On the final day the participants will share a performance combining the work from the week in their own devised compositions and improvised structures in a performance for family and friends. No previous experience is required for these workshops, just a willingness to play, explore and create.
