All As in this class Cylinderondemand engine with a night vision assistant to steer AUDI has launched new ranges of the A6 sedan and the A7 Sportback, with the lower price entry point into the C segment market now starting at R601 000. Audi said in a statement the A6 has been thoroughly updated, with new engines, transmissions, head lights, and a new infotainment sys tem. Optional extras include head lights with LED or Matrix LED tech nology combined with dynamic turn signals. Numerous aluminum compo nents and hotshaped steel also en dows the new A6 1,8 TFSI with a curb weight of just 1 535 kilograms. Luggage capacity is still generous, with the A6 having 530 litres availa ble. The infotainment is housed in a powerretractable eightinch mon itor, with a new technology base that uses the fast Tegra 30 graphics chip from Audi’s partner Nvidia. The A7 is also a WiFi hot spot, thanks to Audi connect that also brings tailored online services into the car. There are also a wide range of driv er assistance systems available, in cluding adaptive cruise control with stop and go function. Audi side as sist, which uses radar sensors to check blind spots when changing lanes, works closely together with Audi active lane assist, which pre vents unintended lane changes. The night vision assistant now in cludes even more functions, with the Audi presense basic safety system available as an option. Customers are also able to specify the Audi A6 with a headsup display system. A6 engine lineup The new Audi A6 has three TFSI units with outputs that range from 140 kW to 331 kW; and two TDI units, the 3,0 of which makes 160 kW and a truckpulling

A 2,0T FSI quattro S tronic will be introduced locally in July 2015, fol lowed by the 2,0 TDI S tronic to wards the end of the year. All engines are mated to Stronic transmission. Audi will also for the first time sell the A6 with a four cylinder 1,8T FSI engine in South Africa which pro vides customers with a lower price entry point into the C segment. The engine will produce 140 kW of pow er and 320 Nm and will be coupled with a S tronic transmission. Com bined fuel consumption is claimed at 5,8 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions of 138 g/km. It has a combined fuel consump tion of just 4,8 litres per 100 km and also produces extremely low CO2
emissions of only 124 g/km. The new Audi S6 is quite simply a sports car for every day. The 4,0 TFSI, a biturbo V8 producing an uprated 331 kW, accelerates the Se dan from zero to 100 km/ in 4,4 sec onds. Average fuel consumption is just 9,2 litres per 100 with the equiv alent of 214 g/km of CO2. This effi ciency is due in large part to the cylin der on demand (COD) system, which only activates four of the eight cylinders when under partial load. Standard equipment in the new Audi S6 includes full LED headlights, quattro permanent allwheel drive and the adaptive air suspension, which lowers the body by 20 milli metres. The Audi Freeway Plus Plan of five year or 100 000 km is standard on

PARKING TICKET, NOT FINE MOTORING last week reported on Standard Bank’s new Mas terPass app which offers a mo bile payment solution to pay parking tickets. However, we understood parking tickets to mean fines for leaving a car parked con trary to bylaws, and not the parking stubs issued when you park in a mall. For the record then, you cannot pay traffic fines using the app, but almost any other daytoday expense. The MasterPass app also works with most vendors who accept MasterCard. Witness Wheels apologises for any confusion caused. For more information on Master Pass, please visit www.stand ardbank.co.za/masterpass
