METAMORPHOSIS 100 days of progress

Bustling through the halls as teachers rush to their classrooms, one person stands at the heart of every school: the School Principal. With a wide range of responsibilities, the school principal is often the unsung hero of a school’s success. But what does it take to be a great school principal? How does an education leader navigate the role challenges while still inspiring and supporting staff and students? We better poke the head honcho of Burauen Comprehensive National High School.

As she creates a platform, it is the ideal time to reflect on her past challenges, present difficulties, and future objectives on her 100th day in the office.

Her first 100 days were like a roller coaster ride. But due to her determination, she has always found a method for accomplishing anything. For instance, the challenge on proper segregation of garbage. She was able to address this issue by working together with the Local Government Unit (LGU), vendors association, and SPTA. Now, there are designated areas for temporary waste disposal in the school. In terms of insufficient numbers of classrooms and ancillary offices she dealt with it by combining each class with a few students to accommodate all learners. Any unused rooms that were in a state of disrepair was renovated to create ancillary offices for the DRRM, Clinic, SSG, Eco-Friendly, SPED, Wash-inSchool, and BKD. Laboratories for the Special Program for the Arts such as theater, music, visual arts, and the MAPEH office were established.

The school reacts with significant transformation as teachers implement creative initiatives. Mentors improve their instructional supervision through coaching and mentoring.

called “Metamorphosis,” she aims for a comprehensive transformation in all areas including Access, Quality, and Governance.

As part of the access aspect, the Open High School Program was revived to provide an alternative learning opportunity for learners who face barriers to continuing their studies.

In terms of quality, she developed and implemented Project

IMPACT (Impactful Mentoring

Practices to Assist and Cultivate Teaching) to cater to the specific needs of each teacher in various aspects of teaching such as daily lesson plan preparation, designing assessment tools, analyzing assessment results, updating school forms, classroom observations, ICT integration, and teaching methodologies. The outcomes of the program are reflected in the monthly supervisory reports of the school principal, Master Teachers, and Head Teachers. Through IMPACT, she provided coaching to teachers who presented data-driven innovations on numeracy, literacy, and ICT. One of the tangible results of the program was when Jeanny Mae Renomeron, a Teacher I, won 3rd place in the International Tiktok Competition, which showcased her innovative teaching style. This have also undertaken minor repairs, such as upgrading the school’s temporary disposal areas, organization offices, school gates, and landscaping.

Furthermore, she has active partnerships with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Burauen, Leyte; the Philippine National Police (PNP); the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA); the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP); the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR); and the Catholic and Christian churches in Burauen.

During her first l00 days, she was grateful to have accomplished the significant milestones mentioned above. With continued guidance and blessings from God, she is confident that we will achieve even more as we work towards a metamorphosis in education— one that is accessible, relevant, holistic, and of the highest quality.

Today, she abides by her vision for BCNHS to uphold the DepEd’s vision of cultivating a professional learning environment for teachers and providing an excellent academic experience for students.
