COVER STORY

To thrive in today’s competitive and everevolving job market, leaders across sectors need to recognize how fundamental business ideas, combined with industry insight and research developments, can generate fresh approaches to business problems. Just as importantly, future industry leaders must believe that business has a vital role to play in making the world a better place.

Colorado State University’s College of Business offers MBA programs that teach students all that and more through innovative, immersive, challenging programs in which students learn core business concepts across disciplines, from accounting to management to finance, and how to use those concepts to solve real-world business challenges.

Promising and Innovative MBA Programs

This Fort Collins-based business school’s focus on impact, excellence, and access sets it apart from other institutions. Its “MBA Your Way” approach offers professionals three delivery formats, so they can choose the MBA best suited to their needs.

Starting in Fall 2020, the College will be the first U.S. business school to offer MBA students three options through one classroom experience: on campus through the Evening MBA, on demand with the Online MBA, or in real time online through the MBA, Mosaic a truly immersive technology that allows online students to participate in the classroom with oncampus students. Additionally, CSU’s College of Business offers two MBAs for professionals seeking to develop more specialized skillsets. The Online MBA - Marketing Data Analytics capitalizes on the growing need for data-informed decision making by teaching students to use relevant data-collection tools and interpret that information to drive organizations forward. The College’s recently launched on-campus Impact MBA teaches students the critical business skills needed to drive organizational change and create ventures that

incorporate the triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit.

No matter which MBA they choose, College of Business graduates gain the business skills and knowledge necessary to manage people, projects, and financial resources at the highest levels of industry.

Upholding Standards While Increasing Student Access

Since its inception, CSU’s College of Business has concentrated on making quality education accessible to anyone committed to learning, so it approaches admissions decisions holistically. This approach upholds the college’s strong academic standards while making its MBAs accessible to students from all walks of life and creating rich classroom and online experiences.

Connecting Students and Faculty Inside and Outside the Classroom

Moreover, each MBA course has dedicated Instructional Coordinators to support students through their learning experience. These individuals are highly trained industry professionals who reinforce the content of the course, provide real-world insight, and lead discussions to promote learning. This robust level of support helps MBA students stay on track and achieve their academic goals.

Incorporating Corporate Social Responsibility into Programs

The College of Business’s mission is to use business education, scholarly research, and community engagement to make the world a better place, and its MBA programs reflect that. Its recently introduced

Impact MBA features two tracks – social entrepreneurship and corporate sustainability – that let students explore ways to connect purpose and profit by creating new ventures or implementing sustainability initiatives from within an organization. The corporate sustainability track trains students to be “intrapreneurs” who complete a fellowship that lets them lead sustainability initiatives within

established organizations using the skills they learn in the classroom. Students in this track can also obtain a Carbon Management Certificate by taking classes in greenhouse gas management and climate change impact. In the social entrepreneurship track, Impact MBA students gain hands-on experience designing business models, creating financial projections, and pitching ideas, ultimately launching a team-based business venture that tackles a global, social, and/or environmental challenge.

The College of Business’ and Online MBAEvening MBA programs examine corporate social responsibility through a variety of lenses, from accounting to marketing. Furthermore, faculty regularly incorporate real-world examples of how businesses can lead the way on social responsibility into lectures and coursework. College of Business faculty are also engaged in groundbreaking research

that demonstrates the ways businesses can solve some of the world’s most intractable challenges. For example, Professor Tom Dean’s article on business and biodiversity, published in in 2018, makes Science a strong argument for the crucial role the private sector can and should play in preserving the world’s biodiversity, and Associate Professor John Macdonald will use a to National Science Foundation grant examine ways to disrupt illegal wildlife trafficking supply chains.

MISERICORDIA UNIVERSITY Educating Students

“This university has a deliberate, mission-focused route because of its enthusiasm and commitment to education, which are given through a community based on solid fundamental principles.”

Today, effective business

to maximize their untapped Potential

education has become essential for students to respond to technological advancements, keep up with market developments, and parse critical firm data in an era of rising data availability. Moreover, the world is struggling with limited natural resources affected by climate change as well as social and political challenges in a highly interconnected global marketplace. To meet these challenges and seize the opportunities moving forward, an outstanding business education with breadth and depth is necessary.

Universities like Misericordia University , have taken it upon themselves to offer students a variety of career opportunities. With opportunities in healthcare administration, sports management, accounting, human resource management, and general management in a range of industries, Misericordia is one of the Prominent MBA colleges to watch out for in 2022.

A Foundation of Mercy

Misericordia University has a long history of offering a holistic student experience rooted in the core values of its founders, the Religious Sisters of Mercy , as the first four-year college in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. When Misericordia first opened in 1924, it

only had one building that housed the Sisters, the College, and even a high school. Over the past century, the campus has grown to 127 acres in Dallas, Pennsylvania, a location that provided easy access to larger cities as well as a peaceful environment perfect for spiritual reflection.

In the past 50 years, Misericordia has evolved from a college to a university, admitted male residential students, and offered more than 55 academic and 35degree programs across three colleges, both in-person and online. The educational goal of the university is to provide students with a purposeful, mercifully inspired transforming experience. Students gain knowledge and skills necessary for success in both their personal and professional life from the instructors and staff who deliver challenging educational teaching in a nurturing environment. This university has a deliberate, mission-focused route because of its enthusiasm and commitment to education, which are given through a community based on solid fundamental principles.

Prominent Programs

Sports management and healthcare administration are two of Misericordia University’s most prominent study programs. The university also offers management, human resource

management, and accounting courses. The advanced sports marketing courses: applied research and strategic plans, public relations, communications, and the media of sport, as well as the business of sport, are all offered to students in the sport management concentration. Students can take courses in global health, healthcare finance, healthcare law, and healthcare leadership and management as part of the healthcare administration concentration.

Misericordia University’s accounting department provides students with training in advanced taxation topics like partnerships and incorporation, auditing, and accounting theory. Performance, remuneration and incentive systems, employee interactions and services, and rules governing human resource management are the main topics covered in human resources management courses. Organizational leadership, strategic management, and an integrative MBA capstone experience are the main topics of study in management. The ability to learn from and engage with practitioners in their respective fields in pertinent courses gives Misericordia MBA students the advantage of being prepared to advance in their fields after graduation.

Valuing Diversification

It is encouraged for every employee, department, and office at Misericordia University to include diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in their daily work. For its implementation, impact, and design, the women with children program has received both regional and national recognition. Students are able to visualize themselves in an area created exclusively for DEI initiatives. The autism center, the campus food pantry, and the adult learners program are some further examples.

The university’s inception as a higher education institution and its charisma, both attest to the importance and influence of DEI as a natural component of a community. The university’s DEI program includes training sessions and workshops all year round and is focused on heritage months. It is done on purpose with students, staff members, and academic programs. Students leave school knowing how interconnected everyone is in the larger community.

Entertaining Campus Life

Misericordia is the hidden gem of the Back Mountain. It organizes a wide range of events and activities in addition to outstanding academic programs. The Campus Life Office works hard to come up with original and entertaining events that cannot be found on other campuses. Each academic year, the university throws a lavish and welcoming Welcome Week that sets the tone for the remainder of the year.

The university hosts comedians, performers, DIY projects, special culinary events using accessories seen at theme parks, giveaways, and various experiences leveraging what is “hot” in pop culture at the time throughout the rest of the year. This “out of the box” thinking is used by the Campus Life

Office when discussing and organizing events.

Students pursuing an MBA are not excluded from the services offered by Misericordia University. This includes support with job searching, interview preparation, practice interviews, and networking through sites like LinkedIn. Additionally, the institution holds career fairs that are accessible to all students and graduates.

Favoring Entrepreneurship

Misericordia promotes entrepreneurship by offering a wide range of courses in the foundational subjects essential for entrepreneurship. Other crucial areas for fostering entrepreneurship include practitionerbased education and practical application through case simulations. The MBA’s status as a professional

degree is a key component. As a result, in order to be admitted to the MBA program, each student must be able to demonstrate that they have some meaningful job experience at the professional level in business, whether through internships, self-employment, or paid employment.

Continuing to adapt to the market, Misericordia University anticipates the potential for stackable MBA credentials. It is assessing fresh possibilities in the supply chain, financial planning, social entrepreneurship, and business analytics. The Misericordia University College of Business is prepared to handle the difficult demands of the future by modifying its curriculum consistently and giving students the chance to interact with professors who emphasize learning by doing in the real world.

Enthusiastically Accepting Social Responsibilities

Misericordia University eagerly accepts the duties required to continue meeting the challenges ahead. The university sets an example of living lives with a purpose and intention to show mercy, service to others, and model hospitality in a world that is troubled and in need of leaders who are motivated by mercy.

The Ruth Matthews Burger Women with Children Program is a prominent component of Misericordia’s program offerings and a tribute to its Mercy purpose. The Women with Children Program, which was established in 2000, gives economically disadvantaged single moms the chance to finish their college degrees and build better futures for both their children and themselves.

UNIVERSITY OF ST. FRANCIS Nurturing

the Next Generation of Management Professionals

Business education is an active,

career-oriented area of study and professional growth. Business management students learn fundamental business concepts while exploring the nature of different corporate, business, and organizational contexts. The impact of a high quality business education is unlike most other educational programs. The knowledge and skills learned by St. Francis graduates are often used directly and immediately, actively upgrading the processes and improving contexts for businesses where they are applied.

Because of its value in business, industry, non-profit organizations, and public institutions, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) is the most sought-after educational path for graduate students in the United States. Graduates from the University of St. Francis-MBA (USF), one of the Midwest’s most well-known MBA schools, embark on professions that transform entire industries and open doors for others. Depending on the requirements of the student, the MBA program is offered on-campus or as a hybrid program. It is an empirically supported, technologically focused approach to management and business thinking.

The Congregation of the Third Order of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate established USF in 1920 as Assisi Junior College to educate its members. The congregation’s doors were also opened to women from outside the community in 1925. It was renamed the College of St. Francis and four-year degrees were added just five years later. The college switched to a coeducational setting in 1971, and the first degree programs offered offcampus started in the following fall. In the 1980s and 1990s, several additional graduate options were added, including a master’s program in health services administration. The College joined forces with Saint Joseph College of Nursing in 1997 to offer Bachelor of Science Nursing degrees, and on January 1, 1998, it changed its name to the University of St. Francis.

The goal of USF is to develop students into leaders who will serve and influence the world. As a Catholic, Franciscan institution with a liberal arts foundation, the university is a welcoming community of scholars motivated by Franciscan values. The university always keeps in mind a tradition that emphasizes respect for creation, compassion, and working for

peace. All of its programs aim for academic achievement, educating both men and women to become leaders and make a positive impact on the world.

to exceptional teachers and students who work in, learn from, and explore the world outside of studies and book chapters—thanks to the individualized attention students receive to achieve their goals, the high graduation rates, and the school’s proximity to Chicago.

Individualized Attention

At USF, interactions between students and professors are based on collaborative teaching and learning experiences that are shared in seminars and online in classrooms with an average of fewer than 14 individuals. There are more internships available at USF than there are students to fill them, emphasizing the fact that 330 of the Fortune 500 are within an hour’s drive of the campus. From the college’s tree-lined campus in Joliet, Illinois, USF students enjoy access to the entire world including the neighborhoods and museums of Chicago, as well as O'Hare and Midway airports.

ike most universities, USF offers job and internship placement services. St. Francis has kept growing as part of a comprehensive strategy for forging connections and forming alliances with former students, local groups, and organizations that serve as careerlaunching platforms. It provides much more than just a few resume-writing workshops; it also provides access to faculty mentors from day one and career seminars with speakers from leading businesses and institutions. Students can obtain diverse perspectives and explore career alternatives in this rich environment of professional connections and alumni assistance.

URAL FEDERAL UNIVERSITY Empowering

Business Leaders to unleash their Full Potential

The year 2022 has been

important for students heeding the brand-new, significant difficulties in the rapidly changing globe. These new challenges include a multidisciplinary approach, faster decision-making, and climate issues influencing the changing business landscape. There has been a significant change in how businesses approach values and employ ESG tactics that promote growth and profitability. The COVID-19 pandemic has propelled the business education sector toward online learning.

With its own unique online learning systems, the “Hyper Method” and “exam1.urfu” platforms, Ural Federal University (UrFU) has adapted impressively to the new conditions and transformed into a genuinely digital university. Through a variety of customized offline and online programs, the university has reimagined programs, pioneered pedagogies, invested in enabling technology, formed value-creating collaborations, and developed new markets.

Reputed History

UrFU is one of the leading universities in Russia and one of the oldest universities in the Ural region. It was established in Ekaterinburg in 1920 as part of a government initiative to

address the lack of skilled labor in the fields of engineering, metallurgy, chemistry, and mining to advance the industrialization of the nation.

UrFU significantly aided the Soviet Union’s industrialization in the 1930s and then it was split into two separate institutions: Ural State University, which concentrated on classical education and the fundamental sciences (natural sciences and mathematics, social sciences and humanities), and Ural Polytechnic Institute, which educated engineers in metallurgy, heavy machinery, civil engineering, radio engineering, and energy.

Several universities were combined, given federal status, and granted more state funding in the 2000s as part of the Russian higher education system’s modernization reform. As a result, UrFU was formed in 2010 by the merger of the two Universities, and it quickly rose to prominence in Russia. Currently, UrFU is Russia’s official federal innovation platform. It serves as the region’s and the nation’s education and scientific center.

Educational Mission, Vision, and Principles

The mission of UrFU is to advance human ingenuity, technological advancement, and scientific knowledge

throughout Russia and the Ural area. Furthermore, it aims to make Russian higher education increasingly competitive globally.

The university’s mission is to create a sustainable society at all levels—local, national, and international–through its high-quality education and cuttingedge research in actual areas of study. Additionally, it aspires to advance and gain a reputation as a Russian leader in natural and materials sciences, engineering, social sciences, and humanities on the global scale. The university is based on the tenets of accessible education, high standards for individuals, and ongoing science promotion.

A Remarkable Leader

For an institution to grow and develop, influential and motivating leadership is very important. Mr. Victor Koksharov , Rector of Ural Federal University, is one such astute leader who is building strong careers of students under his guidance. Born in 1964, Mr. Koksharov graduated from the Faculty of History of Gorki Ural State University in 1986 and became a senior lecturer at the Department of Contemporary History and Theory of International Relations.

In 1992, he received a Ph.D. degree in History, and later in 1995, he started working as chief specialist at the Department of External Affairs of the Presidium of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Till May 2004 he occupied the position of the Head of Department in the Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region. In the same month, he was appointed the Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region.

Mr. Koksharov served as Chairman of the Sverdlovsk Region Government during the period from 2007-2009. He was appointed the Rector of Ural Federal University by the Decree of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. Mr. Koksharov has achieved numerous degrees and has been rewarded with positive responses.
