Danielplacesimmensetrustinhisteam,firmly believingintheircapacitytoexcelintheirrespective roles.Therefore,heintroduceshisassociatedeansand outlinestheirareasofresponsibility.

TheDean’sTriangle,consistingofMike,Michelyn,and Daniel,iscommittedtorecognizing,promoting,and appreciatingfacultyandstaff,ensuringthattheir contributionsreceivewiderrecognition.Currently,their primaryfocusisonenhancingfacultyandstaffappreciation andimpact.Theyacknowledgethatfacultyburnoutisnot theprimaryconcern;instead,theemphasisliesonensuring thattheworkofacademicsyieldsmeaningfulresults.They firmlybelievethatwhenfacultyandstafffeelvaluedand impactful,itenhancesthequalityofeducationforstudents. Toachievethis,theycultivateacultureof“positivegossip” withintheircollege,celebratingeachother’s accomplishments.
Furthermore,fosteringacultureofpsychologicalsafetyisa paramountprioritywithintheCollegeofHealthSciences (CHS)atEKU.Psychologicalsafety,characterizedbytrust andasenseofbelonging,cultivatesjoy,empathy,and optimismintheworkplace—acornerstoneofTeamCHS.
Lookingaheadto2024andbeyond,theirvisionfor educationrevolvesaroundpromotingemotionally intelligentprinciplesinallinteractions,whetherwithin departments,colleges,orvariousuniversityoffices.They believethatinfusingpsychologicalsafety,TOBS,empathy, joy,andbreakingdownsiloswillbringaboutpositive transformationinuniversities.
Theyunderscorethepowerofindividualfacultyandstaff membersadoptingthismindset,leadingtoaculturalshift. Danielhasdiscoveredtheequilibriumrequiredtoexcelin hisleadershiprolewhilenurturinghispersonalwell-being andbuildingmeaningfulconnectionswithlovedones.
Inthepast,hefollowedapatternofprioritizingtheneeds ofothersoverhisown. “I am a recovering “starving baker” where I would help others before helping myself,” admitsDaniel.However,lessonsfrompastmistakeshave reshapedhisperspective.Hehascometorealizethatto effectivelyserveothers,itisessentialtoprioritizehisown growthandwell-being.

DaliawasbornandraisedinEgypt,nearthegreat pyramids.Herfatherurgedherto“daretodream”asshe wasgrowingup.Itallstartedduringherfreshmanyearof collegewhenshewasawardedaSumaCumLaudemerit scholarship,changedhermajortobusinessadministration, andfellinlovewithliberaleducation.Dalialandedher dreamjobwhenshewashiredbytheU.S.Departmentof CommerceattheU.S.EmbassyinCairo,Egypt,allowing hertoworkinEgyptandtheU.S.,capturingandenjoying thebestofbothworlds.Shedidthatwhilealsoenrolledin anMBAprograminEdinburgh,Scotland,andwasraising herthreekids.Shelaughinglysaysthatsheearnedher MBAonaplane,becauseherfrequent36hours-flights (withmultiplestops)fromCairotoWashington,D.C.was herqualitytimetogothroughgraduateschooldespiteher busylife.WhensheearnedherMBA,shegearedupforher
