4.Achievinga100%NCLEXpassrateinBSandAAS nursingprograms.

5.TheCHSLeadBridgeprogramhasplayedakeyrole inimprovingthemathscoresofincomingCHS students.

6.SignificantincreasesinContractsandGrantsfunding (from$90,000in2022to$2.5millionin2023).

7.Substantialgrowthinthenumberofdonors(from103 to298inoneyear),accompaniedbythedevelopmentof anewleadershipboardcomprising14individuals.

8.EightCHSstudentshadtheopportunitytopresent theirresearchatHarvardUniversity’sNational UndergraduateResearchConference.

TheDean’sTriangle:AProficientTeamforaBright Future

Danielplacesimmensetrustinhisteam,firmly believingintheircapacitytoexcelintheirrespective roles.Therefore,heintroduceshisassociatedeansand outlinestheirareasofresponsibility.

TheyadheretoaDean’sLeadershipTriangleapproach, withDr.MikeBallardandDr.MichelynBhandari assumingpivotalroles.Danielhighlyvaluestheir contributionsandreliesontheirexpertise.Hisconfidence intheirabilitiesremainssteadfast,andtheirstrengths shapetheirspecificresponsibilities.Beyondtheir professionalconnections,theyshareacollegialand amicablerapport.Thissenseofpsychologicalsafety encouragesopencommunication,cultivatingaworkplace culturecharacterizedbygrowth,enjoyment,and camaraderie.

SpottingCurrentandFutureTrendsintheEducation Industry

TheDean’sTriangle,consistingofMike,Michelyn,and Daniel,iscommittedtorecognizing,promoting,and appreciatingfacultyandstaff,ensuringthattheir contributionsreceivewiderrecognition.Currently,their primaryfocusisonenhancingfacultyandstaffappreciation andimpact.Theyacknowledgethatfacultyburnoutisnot theprimaryconcern;instead,theemphasisliesonensuring thattheworkofacademicsyieldsmeaningfulresults.They firmlybelievethatwhenfacultyandstafffeelvaluedand impactful,itenhancesthequalityofeducationforstudents. Toachievethis,theycultivateacultureof“positivegossip” withintheircollege,celebratingeachother’s accomplishments.

Furthermore,fosteringacultureofpsychologicalsafetyisa paramountprioritywithintheCollegeofHealthSciences (CHS)atEKU.Psychologicalsafety,characterizedbytrust andasenseofbelonging,cultivatesjoy,empathy,and optimismintheworkplace—acornerstoneofTeamCHS.

Lookingaheadto2024andbeyond,theirvisionfor educationrevolvesaroundpromotingemotionally intelligentprinciplesinallinteractions,whetherwithin departments,colleges,orvariousuniversityoffices.They believethatinfusingpsychologicalsafety,TOBS,empathy, joy,andbreakingdownsiloswillbringaboutpositive transformationinuniversities.

Theyunderscorethepowerofindividualfacultyandstaff membersadoptingthismindset,leadingtoaculturalshift. EKUisalreadyexperiencingthistransformation,witha cohesiveenvironmentfosteredbyProvostDr.SaraZeigler andPresidentMcFaddin,whoepitomizeanopenand supportiveleadershipstyle.Thisanti-silomentalityis shapingthefutureofeducationatEKU,onestepatatime. Danielhasdiscoveredtheequilibriumrequiredtoexcelin hisleadershiprolewhilenurturinghispersonalwell-being andbuildingmeaningfulconnectionswithlovedones.

Inthepast,hefollowedapatternofprioritizingtheneeds ofothersoverhisown. “I am a recovering “starving baker” where I would help others before helping myself,” admitsDaniel.However,lessonsfrompastmistakeshave reshapedhisperspective.Hehascometorealizethatto effectivelyserveothers,itisessentialtoprioritizehisown growthandwell-being.

varietyofcharacteristicsandtraits.Theprocessof settingandattaininggoals,forinstance,ismostly drivenbyaclearvisionandeectivecommunicationsthat exemplifyclarity,conciseness,andcourtesyEective leadersinhighereducationareconstantlycommunicating withsta,faculty,students,families,stakeholders,and communitypartnersandusethefeedbacktoanalyze, changecourse,andmakesounddecisions.

DaliaSherif,anaccomplishededucationalleaderand ExecutiveDeanofBaccalaureateProgramsatLoneStar College(LSC),assertsthat “Communication is not only about saying the right things to the right people at the right time, but more importantly, it is about verbal attention, active listening, as well as body language.”

DaliawasbornandraisedinEgypt,nearthegreat pyramids.Herfatherurgedherto“daretodream”asshe wasgrowingup.Itallstartedduringherfreshmanyearof collegewhenshewasawardedaSumaCumLaudemerit scholarship,changedhermajortobusinessadministration, andfellinlovewithliberaleducation.Dalialandedher dreamjobwhenshewashiredbytheU.S.Departmentof CommerceattheU.S.EmbassyinCairo,Egypt,allowing hertoworkinEgyptandtheU.S.,capturingandenjoying thebestofbothworlds.Shedidthatwhilealsoenrolledin anMBAprograminEdinburgh,Scotland,andwasraising herthreekids.Shelaughinglysaysthatsheearnedher MBAonaplane,becauseherfrequent36hours-flights (withmultiplestops)fromCairotoWashington,D.C.was herqualitytimetogothroughgraduateschooldespiteher busylife.WhensheearnedherMBA,shegearedupforher

Ph.D.,andgraduatedwithaPhDinOrganizational Psychology
