ith pandemic that brought the whole world to a standstill, 2021 has been a year of hope and new opportunities for many people. With their unending zeal, they showed us how strong is humanity, how we can rise up together and start running the machine again. Our special issue of The Enterprise World’s Hall of Fame, we bring to you the stories of companies that have shown everyone how to run organizations in the hardest of the times. They have shown us that it is when challenges weigh you down, that is the best way ever to spring back up, strongly than ever! It is something like it with the challenges we face. It is very easy to put our heads down and look at all the negatives that could happen. At times such, it gets hard to focus on the positive aspects of life, it becomes hard to believe the fact that good things are happening, if only we remain patient. These companies have shown us what hope looks like. Even when times got hard, when it became hard to focus on what was good, the leaders suited up for the day, each day and presented to us with their amazing stories of success. No journey starts out smooth, there are a number of obstacles one has to overcome through it. In the case of business ventures, it is the same. Sometimes there are challenges that you could not have foreseen. But getting over those and standing strong is what counts.

The File Fabric solution offers a “blanket” that company's can privately apply to wrap around all their data: on-premises, within a public cloud, or on a third party software vendors' cloud (SharePoint or Salesforce for example). Customers can use the File Fabric for security, encryption and control with a focus on compliance regimes such as GDPR, HIPPA, FERPA and GBLA.

The Enterprise File Fabric for Compliance builds on this with content search and content discovery modules. The content search indexes the contents of files and objects to essentially provide a company with a private search engine for corporate data. The Content Discovery module provides continuous real-time discovery of PHI/PII data and Ransom ware protection.

Although, Storage Made Easy's challenge was quite a different one; their vision was simply too early! It might not sound like a challenge, but it was, as when they first started noone was talking about multi-cloud and data federation. This is not unusual for startups. Having worked with start-ups earlier, Jim knew that the actual challenge was to stay the course until the market matures.

Jim Liddle and the Team“Being an entrepreneur you have to be a bit of a chameleon, especially in

the early days of forming a company. You have to be pretty good at a lot of different things and become very broad in your skill sets.” Coming out of University Jim worked on a number of technical projects, both software and hardware and then formed a couple of start-ups in the late 90's where, looking back, he learned quite a lot of what worked (and what did not). After this he worked for a number of start-ups in various technical, sales, product management and managerial roles before forming Storage Made Easy. Jim's job is essentially doing three things for the team. The first is to use his experience to provide guidance and help; the second is try and help them grow in what they do; the third is to try and handle what gets in the way of making them productive in their role – the 'noise'. On a day to day basis he achieves this with varying degrees of success and of course like everyone else he sometimes fails entirely but the next day you brush yourself down and try harder. With my team I set the direction and focus of the business in addition to defining the business goals.

Think Biosolution was founded in March 2016 in Dublin, Ireland, and is now a global innovation leader in building customized early warning score-based triaging platforms for assisted living facilities and hospital groups in the USA. Our two current platforms are the At-home COVID-19 Monitoring Platform and the At-home Geriatric Care Platform. Think Biosolution currently uses third-party point of care medical devices like pulse oximeters and blood pressure monitors to predict the onset of a chronic condition for a given patient. Our future Chronic Disease Prevention platform is projected to be launched in early 2023 will help patients prevent the onset of new eighteen different chronic conditions. The platform will

decrease the number of hospital visits, and the length of hospital stays for patients. This market-creating innovation will directly impact health insurance enterprises in the USA and national healthcare authorities in the EU, who will launch a new category of preventative care delivery with a significant reduction in insurance premiums. What were the initial challenges you faced? Our biggest challenge was to find a good product-market fit for our technology. We knew from the get-go that our multiparameter wearable medical device QuasaR™ could have big impacts in multiple marketplaces, including regulated medical devices, smart apparel, and professional athlete monitoring. However, it took us two years to identify the correct marketplace, i.e., long-term care facilities in the USA. It then took us another two years to quantify our target customers' impact on KPIs for patient outcomes, cost savings, and an increase in revenue. Which was that point that triggered the growth of Think Biosolution? Understanding our platform's impact on patient outcomes, cost savings, and

revenue increase for long-term care facilities helped us trigger growth. Long-term care facilities include assisted living, skilled nursing facilities, post-hospitalization care, and at-home care. The other major factor was the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic ushered in a huge need for provider organizations to immediately deploy patient monitoring programs for at-risk, suspected and confirmed COVID19 patients. Let's dig in more about Amodo in an interview with Marijan Mumdziev / CEOTell us about Amodo. The company was founded in 2013 in Zagreb. Amodo raised 5M USD investment from Investors such as Speed Invest, Lead Ventures, SGH Capital and Bee Next. The investment supported us in building the product and consequently acquire a great customer base, among others AIG, Porsche, and BNP Paribas. Amodo clients are on 5 continents, and more than 20 countries, with the majority being in Europe and Asia. What were the initial challenges you faced? The biggest challenge the industry was

facing at the beginning was educating the market on the value and need for this type of solution. In the 7 years that Amodo has been around, this changed radically so now insurance companies are more educated and are increasingly looking for specific features and customized solutions to their specific use cases. In the beginning, we were one of the pioneers of the smartphone-based telematics propositions. Like in any industry, so in ours as well, through time comes maturity. More companies such as ours emerged, Insurance companies got more educated on different options technology could offer and started developing their preferences. It is increasingly a game in which providers focused more on which part of the technology and how much of a fit their focus is for specific insurance companies. The main motivation to build the Amodo Connected Insurance Platform was the obvious gap between customer expectations and what Insurance Product and Services deliver. While customer expectations are changing quickly and are shaped by influences coming from other industries, the Insurance industry had difficulty catching up in the number of transformational activities. As a consequence, we see an ever-increasing number of InsurTech companies in the past 5 years addressing different parts of the value chain.

What are the products/services the company focuses on? How are your services different from those in the market? Typically, insurance companies can expect a 15%-25% reduction in claims, depending on the value proposition and technology-based Risk Prevention and Engagement mechanics used. Amodo project in Latin America had dangerous parts of the city mapped out, and by encouraging people to avoid parking in these areas, Amodo Client managed to reduce the claims for bodily injuries among users of the app by 60%. Is there any new addition to the list of products/services? Anything exciting you would like to share? A product we are excited about is our first smartphone-based pay-per-mile insurance project. This project will be out in the market by the end of the year and the idea is that this product is perfectly adapted to the needs of endusers. The idea is that users can purchase comprehensive insurance through the app anytime, use it to cover a certain distance or time, and stop using it once they feel there is no need for this type of coverage. Parts of Europe have predominantly

older vehicles in their car fleet and purchasing comprehensive coverage for this type of vehicle is perceived as expensive and inefficient. Since there is limited purchasing power due to a lower standard of living, these vehicles represent a significant value for their owners. In cases of long travel or a more dangerous trip (bad weather conditions for example), there can be a will for the purchase of additional coverage. This is where our technology will come in, as it will allow drivers of these types of vehicles to purchase additional coverage only for the length of the trip they are expecting to cover and they will have the possibility of using this distance at their own choice. It does not have to be in consecutive journeys either.

I am active in the Internet of Things technologies for more than 15 years with a special focus on the impact it brings to the Insurance Industry. r. Nadine Hachach-Haram FRCS (Plast), BEM, is Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Head of Clinical Innovation at Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, in London, England. In 2016, the NHS clinical entrepreneur drew on her surgical experiences and her passion for innovation and education to create Proximie, a software platform on a mission to save lives by sharing the world's best clinical practice. Proximie enables physicians and medical device experts to virtually scrub-in to any operating room or cath lab, from anywhere in the world. Designed in order to extend the geographical reach of a surgeon and to create the effect of a borderless operating room, Proximie's ultimate ambition is to bring to life its vision of Connected Surgical Care; a global network of operating rooms interconnected by the world's best physicians, where every incision is already informed by machine learning and every physician will be empowered with real-time diagnostics, data and analysis. The Enterprise World had the chance to interview Nadine and it follows as,

Brief us about your journey till now. I founded Proximie based on the ethos that shared knowledge leads to accelerated learning and better patient care. Proximie was built to allow experts to virtually scrub in to operating rooms and cath labs around the world, to support, coach, and mentor each other, and to really look at the continuum of expertise throughout a surgeon's career. I had been exposed to early-stage telecommunications platforms, but all of them were anchored to one moment in time. One meeting, one call, one conference, but then it's gone. The options available did not enable a continuum of sharing knowledge and expertise, and they were too passive. You can't do remote surgery in 2D. It has to be more immersive than that. What we wanted to do with Proxmie was to create a multi-sensory experience that was a catalyst for collaboration and could digitize a surgeon's footprint. We wanted to extend the geographical reach of a surgeon and create the effect of a borderless operating room that could empower physicians to

remotely share knowledge that would ultimately reduce variation in care and help save lives. What were the initial challenges you faced? I think when we first set out there was understandably some scepticism about whether or not we could match our ambition to change the paradigm of surgery. There was also concern about whether or not we could build something intuitive yet capable of supporting the type of precision that is required in an operating room. Would Proximie end up being too otherworldly or cumbersome from an integration perspective? We knew we had to build something for the here and now, as well as for the future. It had to answer an urgent need and have the potential to both decrease costs and increase the efficiency and quality of care immediately. That was the dichotomy we had to overcome, and it was not without its challenges or its sceptics. I was also told that this problem was too big for a practicing surgeon and first-time CEO to solve. are in advanced discussions to help solve the global connectivity problems in healthcare, using 5G and Space Technology amongst other interesting innovations. How have Proximie's graphs changed since the foundation? Can you share a few statistics? We are now assisting procedures in over 50 countries, and we are operating in over 350 hospitals worldwide, but we know we need to keep pushing and the business is evolving every day. Since 2020, our team has grown from 25 to over 120 employees, and we recently just went through a successful Series B raise which is going to help empower more physicians and in turn help to save more lives. Our work is never done. What are the products/services Proximie focuses on? How are your services different from those in the market? We designed Proximie from the outset so that it would never be a siloed product. It has now been used in every surgical specialty and can extend across the whole surgical industry, or ecosystem within a hospital. That software-first approach

has enabled us to quickly layer on really exciting new technologies, and to the broadest user base possible. The key is accessibility, Proximie needs to function in a wide variety of geographical areas, social contexts, and environments, but also be malleable to innovative ideas, technologies, people, or hardware companies. The pace of innovation tends to be quicker in software than hardware. It's important to remember that a software-first approach means that we can continue to innovate and adapt quickly to the needs of our customers delivering value on a continual basis. This doesn't preclude us from integrating into existing hardware in the operating room, this is no mean feat to be able to integrate with older pieces in some parts of the world and the latest machines like robots in others. We're really, truly building something here.

What is the reason behind your long-standing success? People measure success in different ways, yes, I have won awards but more importantly to me, I have made a difference in the lives of my clients. I had been fortunate to have a lot of fun jobs before I was laid off—working for interesting organizations and traveling the world. Many of the jobs I was interviewing for just seemed “meh”—nothing too

exciting. And when I interviewed at PR agencies, I was going to be required to bring in business. I started thinking about it—if I had been making a living cobbling together work, why not do it full time? After all, why should I create business for other firms when I could do it on my own? When you first start a business, everyone says not to turn down work, so I didn't. I did PR for a nail salon, a clothing boutique, tech startups, and authors. Our firm didn't have a specialty. After a while, I decided to follow my passion—let's work with organizations making a difference. About five years ago, Scott Circle Communications focused our efforts on nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and associations. Our firm stood for something—we were able to attract the right type of client and the right type of staff too. As a business owner, it is hard to only focus on one type of client—so many questions went through my head—will we still be able to grow and thrive if we narrow our focus? Is it a good idea to turn away business? Everything I read about entrepreneurship said to follow your passion and the business will come. I learned that's true. Ever since Scott Circle Communications became more focused, our business has grown.

Through the Purpose PRogram, we provide free training to small nonprofits in the Washington, DC area on all things PR and coach them so they can create and implement their own public relations plans. This year's program focuses on supporting nonprofits addressing housing security, safety, equity, and inclusivity. At the end of the program, our nonprofits—Main Street Connect, SCAN of Northern Virginia, Bright Beginnings, and the Wanda Alston Foundation—present their plans to the class.
