December 2022 - The Epidemiology Monitor

Page 1

The Upcoming Year In Epidemiology - 2023

We are pleased to present our annual calendar of worldwide epidemiology and biostatistics events. As always, these events are categorized as conventions/meetings, short courses, and Summer/Winter programs. The list is built based on submissions from the sponsoring entities, events that have been historically listed in our calendar, and web searches to find new events to add to the list. While the bulk of the events are run in North America, there are events in exciting places like Dubai, Taiwan, and Belfast.

Our 2023 calendar provides evidence of the big changes in our field and around the world. The vast majority of the 136 events currently have firm dates and most are being held in person. This is an exciting development as two years ago events were being cancelled right and left and those that were running were mostly virtual events. Last year we were only able to list 103 events due to problems related to COVID-19, including travel restrictions in various parts of the world.

While we make a concerted effort to unearth events, we often miss some that should have been added. If you are hosting an event that you would like included in the web based version of our calendar please submit here and we will add it to our Events page. That will also ensure that we will search for it when we build the 2024 calendar. A special note for summer programs: while your events are listed here, our February issue will be focused on your programs and we need additional information from you. Please contact michele@epimonitor.net so we can update your program profile.

I look forward to seeing you in 2023!
