Either way, you’re sure to have an incredible, inspiring time!

Welcome to The Etsy Market BrisStyle is a not for profit, incorporated community of creative people who call Queensland and Northern New South Wales home. We formed in March 2008 when a small group of Brisbane Etsy sellers got together for creative conversation and since that first meeting in a West End coffee shop, we've grown into a large collective of creative members. All of whom understand the shiver of excitement that comes from producing handmade goods. We have developed into a thriving creative community offering small business support, advocacy, events, workshop and creative opportunities to our members and the local creative community.

4EverBlueCreations Shop Nicole Dorner-Scales Yuggera Country - Brisbane

Nicole is a retired Travel Agent with a passion for sewing and hand-embroidery. As a selfdescribed fabric hoarder, she loves using upcycled and natural fibres and has a fascination for Japanese Arts and Crafts, which is reflected in the items sold in her store. Nicole keeps her product numbers low, ensuring that every item is unique and is happy to accept custom orders through Etsy. Once Nicole has decided on a new project, she carefully chooses the fabrics from her well curated collection, often hand-embroidering the item with Sashiko stitching. This process can take many hours. Once completed, the item then gets machine sewn into its designated shape, which could be a zipper purse, a drawstring pouch or a tote bag.

It’s Just a Hobby Shop

Meg Yuggera Country - Brisbane

Meg makes small-batch, one of a kind earrings from polymer clay and resin. She loves to use bold, bright colours, patterns, shapes and glitter, you can never have too much glitter! Meg started making earrings for pleasure, and her business started as ‘just a hobby’. She designs and creates earrings in her spare time. With polymer clay, it starts with designing and creating a slab, then cutting and baking. After that there is sanding, sometimes a coat of resin or two, and then drilling and attaching findings by hand. The resin pieces involve dying and of course glitter! Then pouring and casting into moulds. Once they’re popped out of their moulds, it’s smoothing any edges, and attaching posts and findings.

Large round-topped teardrop from the Butterfly Garden Collection

Meg’s earrings are one-of-a-kind originals. Designed and handmade in Brisbane, each pair of earrings are uniquely different, and are the perfect accompaniment to offset anyone’s naked earlobes.

Joanne is a mother of two and a veterinarian by trade, a lover of nature, books, all things sparkly, especially earrings! She likes to work with resin and loves how versatile it is, bringing that extra bling to even the simplest of styles. Her earrings are pretty and can be worn every day as a statement, or subtlety. Foiled green jewels

Joanne has always loved making and creating and realised that she could turn this passion into a business in 2019 when, on a whim, she applied for a stall at a local Christmas market. It was a resounding success, with so many people loving her earrings, and Joanne decided that creating earrings was in her future! She named her business after the two loves of her life - her son Isaac James and her daughter Evelyn Mae.

Having always had an interest in the natural organic world around her, along with Fine Arts and jewellery design training, Michelle has created a range of jewellery that explores space, fluidity and balance, through organically shaped sculptural forms which seem to float on the body. This is done in a range of metals such as silver and gold, with patina effects to “sketch” her ideas into metal. It is in the process of documenting, sketching and photographing for her jewellery that Michelle returned to paint and the creation of interesting compositions, and still life paintings in watercolour or oil, shifting back to my foundational roots .

Tamara’s store revolves around handmade prints, where each print is carved and crafted manually. Usually inspired by nature, Tamara’s pieces use positive symbolism, vibrant colours, and a melody of mediums to bring her prints to life.

Black dog purple and blue and Tabby cat

Mystic Man Blue Tinted - two tone ink blue and white

Etsy is a convenient resource for Tamara, as it helps her put her prints out there without being physically present and increases consumer satisfaction, as they have multiple options and ways to purchase prints. Tamara starts by sketching out an image and then carefully transfers it onto a linocut/rubber block. Using a carving tool, she chips away at the block, adding textures and detail by varying the pressure applied while carving. Then ink is rolled onto the uneven surface, paper is placed onto the block and pressed hard. When she's sure that the ink has coated the paper evenly she carefully peels it off to reveal the artwork.

Tamara uses eco-friendly packaging by using recycled cardboard and cellophane. It is a small step towards saving the planet.

The Playful Pouch is a side business that started with Jasmine's obsession for sewing and mixing and matching different fabrics. After making way too many to keep, she started selling them! Jasmine has found that people love handmade, one of a kind items just as much as she does, and she finds that Etsy is the perfect platform for selling what she's made. Rather than buying fabric in bulk, Jasmine prefers to buy 'fat quarters' or half metres, meaning that most of her items are one-of-akind combinations. This keeps it interesting and creative for her, and provides variety in her store! The Playful Pouch products make great gifts as they are quality, handmade, and one-of-akind. They are also quite versatile - you can keep anything in a pouch!

The Vintage Island Shop Raina Lee Yuggera Country - Brisbane

The Vintage Island is a business where old stamps get a new life. The idea for Raina's brand started from her habit of collecting, and from her love of collecting postage stamps.

Vintage Stamp Mini Vase

When thinking of a business name Raina wanted it to suggest a place where someone could send a letter. So she combined ‘Vintage’ and ‘Island’.

Handmade Clay Wine Stopper

Raina set up her Etsy store because she likes buying unique gifts from Etsy herself, and thinks that Etsy is a great online platform. The ideas that Raina gets when designing her products can be very random, as she draws inspiration from the stamp designs. The main mediums that Raina uses are clay and used, vintage stamps. Each work is individually handcrafted, so no two are exactly alike. Each piece can take 2-3 weeks to make from start to finish, including making, drying and varnishing.

TOOTZZI Shop Melinda Hall Gubbi Gubbi Country - Sunshine Coast

Macaroni for Mondays

Melinda has been a maker for longer than she can remember. As a kid, she spent days in her mum’s pottery studio playing with clay, and used to make jewellery from beachcombed finds to sell at local markets in Bargara, Bundaberg. In her 30's she took to polymer clay and launched her own label, TOOTZZI. Deriving the name from an old nickname one of her besties gave her, "Tootz", she just had to use it!

Greenhouse Collection

Each piece is uniquely designed and handcrafted by Melinda’s own hands and no two pieces are the same. Her accessories are predominantly made from polymer clay but incorporate preloved/recycled/repurposed mediums such as metal, fabric and leather. Melinda's techniques are experimental and self-taught, and she uses everyday items for clay tools, which add texture and detail to the work.

Steph Morris Yuggera Country - Brisbane

Steph is a painter who turned to fabric and sewing, fibre and thread, as new media with which to create. Every piece is a one off mix of colour and pattern, including throw and floor cushions, ottomans, aprons, table linens, accessories, and original artworks. Where possible she combines new materials with preloved resources. Steph started her Etsy store 12 years ago, to showcase her early forays into sewing and recycling textiles, it has grown and changed with her skillset and diversification of work.

Mistress Cat with flowers appliqué cushion

At the moment much of what she is doing involves a process of fabric collage, using fusible webbing and applique techniques to create a new fabric. Over time Steph has gathered a great many textiles, new and vintage, as well as decorative paraphernalia and haberdashery, and enjoys the mixing of these to make images, soft sculptures, and patchwork creations, which can also serve a practical purpose - as modern heirlooms, precious gifts, and unique points of interest. Her products are made with care and affection, and this communicates itself to the recipient!
