St. Margaret’s—A Center of Grace EPIP HANY HOME BLESSING KITS: The key to blessing one's home is rooted in Epiphany—it is not to see different things but to see things differently. By blessing our homes we as a community are committing to being aware of Christ's presence in the most important place of our lives, our homes. All are welcome to join us in Sillers Hall to prepare your own “take-home” Epiphany home blessing kit, with holy water, candle and home blessing service leaflet. NEW PLANS FOR MICHAEL SANDERS: Due to health concerns and hopes for retirement, Michael Sanders has made the decision to step down as organist and choir director. On Sunday, January 10, we will honor Michael Sanders for his 14 years as organist and choir director for St. Margaret’s, and for offering our community the utmost of beautiful classical and sacred music over the years. Ed Babic will prepare a special celebratory coffee hour to celebrate Michael and his wife, Pam, and all they have brought to our community over the years. If anyone would like to donate toward a gift collection for Michael, please mark your contribution with the memo, “Gift for Michael” and drop in the offering plate or in the church office, and plan to join us on January 10! BLESSINGS BY THE BOX—PROJECT ANGEL FOOD BEGINS AT ST. MARGARET’S IN FEBRUARY 2010: Project Angel Food is a nationwide, non-profit food relief program that provides quality foods on a monthly basis to families, individuals and seniors in need. We are moving forward quickly and will begin accepting orders in January, with the first distribution in February. We will have numerous ongoing volunteer opportunities, especially for the Saturday distribution days (which are generally the 4th Saturday of each month). Keep Angel Food in mind, and we will have more information as we approach our February distribution. For more information, please contact Program Coordinator, John Heppert: 582-0583 or kdsnk9s@cox.net and be sure to keep watch for more details. Let’s get out and provide monthly blessings by the box! FIRST COMMUN ION CLASSES will begin Sunday, January 17 (8:30-9:15 AM) for all children interested in receiving their First Communion on Sunday, February 14 during the 9:30 AM service. The classes will be held January 17, 24, 31 and February 7 and 14, with First Communion during the 9:30 AM service on February 14. All children (Kindergarten-5th grade) are welcome to attend. Look for the sign-up sheet in the courtyard, or you can contact the church office (661-0110, or email: church@stmarg.org). If you have an older child who would like to take First Communion instruction, please contact the church office. ANNUAL PARISH MEETI NG AND VESTRY ELECTIONS: All are welcome and encouraged to join us for our Annual Parish Meeting following the 9:30 AM service on Sunday, February 7. The Annual Meeting gives us an opportunity to gather as a community to review the life of the parish in 2009, as well as envision and prepare for all that’s ahead in 2010, and we welcome your participation. We will also have Vestry elections. Anyone who is interested in participating as a member of the Vestry (which is a three-year commitment) is asked to please contact Fr. Rob or Susanna Openshaw. We will have extended childcare in the nursery for babies and toddlers, and on the playground for elementary-aged children. HELP US SAVE ON POSTAGE!
