At Evergreen, we take our role as a data driven organization seriously. That’s why members of the IS teams consistently reach out to help with work flows, system trainings and best practices, as well as explaining the data you're entering and where it all goes. There was a time where the quality team’s roles were spread a little thin, so we wanted to focus on data integrity and take better ownership of the quality of the data.
“Data entry is important. It helps us tell the story of outcomes through data. The more accurate the data is, the more able we are to demonstrate, through concrete outcomes, that our services are meaningful.” – Julie Vaughan
That’s why the data integration team was formed. The data integration team consists of:
Julie Vaughan – director of data integration
Toni Hernandez – data assistant
Dan Verzelloni – data assistant
Eli Jimerson – data systems support
Julie’s focus on the team is data outreach, in a way. She helps all of our departments get best practices
in place. If you hear the words data governance, Julie is probably involved. Data governance involves the management, availability, usability, integrity and security of data. In other words, it involves a lot of pieces that help us keep our data reliable and meaningful. Julie has her eyes on all of these pieces all of the time and her team helps the other IS teams and departments in the agency focus on data governance.
If you work in AIRS, you probably know Julie is an expert in it. She is always available to help
troubleshoot problems, answer questions and make sure everyone understands the frequent updates in data requirements for grant funded programs from the state. The rest of her team plays a big role in this, as well. Dan and Toni are experts at finding and entering data in AIRS. That’s why they assist a lot of our teams in entering consistent and accurate information. Their roles are funded by AIDS Institute grants, and they are very skilled in using the systems and involved in numerous data clean-up projects. Eli handles the “back end” of AIRS. As the main AIRS system administrator, he is responsible for security related to AIRS, permissions and user accounts. Because of all the movement around Evergreen, it’s always good to put in a help desk ticket about department transfers or any changes needed related to a user account in AIRS. That way Eli can keep everything updated and running smoothly.
Our hope is to make data less scary, more accessible, to spread awareness and make people
understand the positive impact Evergreen and its affiliates have on our community. We've been working on data governance for a while, whether you know it or not. People might be nervous when they hear “data governance,” but it's not scary. As we grow into an FQHCLAL, we are going to be more and more dependent on our data to tell our story, making it important for us to define roles, best practices and understand the key part data plays in our jobs every day. We’re trying to move people towards becoming empowered and really understand and rely on the data they use.
Don't be scared! It's just data. We’ll meet you where you’re at; we believe in “Data Harm Reduction.”

2. Follow the prompt to record the Code Blue or Mr. Webber and say the exact location and building of the incident. 3. Hang up your phone. This will prompt your message to be broadcast to all Evergreen locations. 4. The Code Blue team and Security will respond to the incident. You'll have 30 seconds to record your message. If you're not done in 30 seconds, you'll be cut off and your message will be automatically broadcast. It's imperative that you say the location and building in your message: “Code Blue in the men’s lobby bathroom in the Elmwood building” or “Could Mr. Webber please come to the Mathews building counselor room?.” The Code Blue/ Mr. Webber Softkey has been removed from all phones.
