Marc Gibbens is on a rmss1on to enlighten teenagers on English literature. He teaches College Prep English and sophomore PreAP English II. Gibbens is raising two daughters with his wife, they are 3 ½ years old and 2 years old, and the couple has a baby on the way. Outside of school, Gibbens listens to music like the Beatles and Mumford & Sons. He also owns almost 1,000 books. "My favorite author is Dorothy Russell. I'll read anything she writes," Gibbens said.

New language arts teacher, Kayla Mille1� recently came from Shawnee Mission North where she taught for a year. However, before she chose teaching, Miller "wanted to be a cow1try singer, till the age of 12." Her mom told her she couldn't live in Nashville and that dream was instantly shattered. StuCo and Student Council Workshop were a huge part of her life in high school. "I decided on teaching the high school level because the students accept my humor and sarcasm," Miller said.

Lauren Jaqua, English teacher, may seem like any other teacher, but she's also a pretty talented athlete who loves the arts. She grew up in Lansing, Kan., and went to college at Baker to run track. "Exercise is important, and I like to work out all the time," Jaqua said. As for her love for the arts, she went to New York for a graduation present this past summer. She saw many Broadway productions. Now that summer is over, Jaqua is here teaching for the very first time. She teaches sophomore English.

Jean Busey loves her job as a counselor here and she's only just started. "I love my job and the kind of work tl1at I do. All of us get stuck at times and need help," Busey said. Busey has been in the field of education since 1987, but has only been a counselor for 13 years. Family and friends are important to her, and so are the Royals. "I love movies, TV, being witl1 family, being with friends, and watching the Royals win," Busey said.

When Schlicht is not teaching, she love to travel the world, having visited 21 countries in total. She has been from Sri Lanka to China and from Greece to Spain. Schlicht is also a fan of Broadway shows. "I really love Broadway," Schlicht said. "I have been to New York 14 or 15 times." Schlicht has been teaching for 16 years, 15 of which were in Bonner Springs.
