About the Congressional Black Caucus The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), an organization that binds together the efforts of the Black members of the United States Congress, was formally founded in February 1971. The Congressional Black Caucus aims to gain greater equity for those living in the U.S. that are of African descent through programs and other services. The caucus' services center on ensuring justice for all, decreasing gaps in education and achievement, securing economic security through employment, retirement and increased welfare funds along with ensuring health care for every citizen.

About the Annual Legislative Conference The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) each year produces the Annual Legislative Conference (ALC), a four-day event held in September at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Thousands -- including elected officials, business and industry leaders, celebrities, media and concerned citizens -- attend the ALC and its dozens of workshops, forums, general sessions and panel discussions to helm the change needed in public policy.

Insider’s Guide to Congressional Black Caucus Week

After celebrating our sixth anniversary, The Fab Empire is also commemorating another milestone. This digital guide marks our fifth annual “Insiders Guide to Congressional Black Caucus Week,” which gives readers the scoop on events, receptions and parties during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's (CBCF) 43rd Annual Legislative Conference (ALC)! Where does the time go? To mark our fifth anniversary, we decided to throw a launch reception for the guide on Sunday, September 15 from 1-3 p.m. at the SkyBar at the Beacon Hotel powered by Svedka. We do hope you can join us, but this guide is truly not about us. It’s for you. This year’s theme for the ALC -- “It Starts With You” -- is actually pitch perfect in explaining what this guide is about. It’s a no brainer that young professionals, like you, need to register for the conference and be present when your elected officials, business leaders and other concerned citizens sound off about policy changes needed to improve our respective communities. Yet, you also need to make the most of this week. You need to meet your next employer or finally bump into that high-level executive that could take your career to the next level. This guide can’t guarantee that you’ll be in the door, but it can give you all of the tools needed to get inside. Use this week to team build, network and pave the way for a good year. Lastly, remember to stay connected to The Fab Empire year round. Friend us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. See you out there,
