Once again our extreme gratitude to the McNamee family for letting Cook Angus participate in McNamee’s 35 Annual Bull Sale.

There is a Difference!

Cook Angus program is based on a moderate functional female that breeds every year and raises a quality calf requiring limited resources. Cows that are structurally sound, fertile, good feet/udders, and temperament with mothering ability. Longevity is a profitable trait. Several cow families in our herd have multi-generations producing. We do not waiver our core values for open, hard keeping, poor udder, bad footed, high headed cows. This past year the consistency continues to hold strong, 95% exposed cows bred in a 50 day window.

Herd sires are home raised or meticulously selected from proven programs to enhance the consistent quality of like kind with profitability. We don’t chase fads or numbers. We do raise cattle that live in a harsh, native environment, take care of themselves and work for us.

It is our pledge and sincere goal to provide our old and new customers with quality service and cattle that are functional, low input, and enjoyable to raise. The program stays the same. Our cattle graze on native and improved pastures. Cows are usually fed hay and DDG’s as needed in winter to maintain condition. Salt and mineral are free choice year-round. Registered and commercial cows run together, except at breeding. We use some home raised bulls on both commercial and registered cows and heifers.

This past breeding season we AIed using home raised bulls and outside sires from proven programs. Home raised bulls and new young sires from McCumber Angus that have foundation female’s multiple generations behind them. Providing a select new influence that is in line with our program and goals.

This year’s sale we will offer 19, 2-year-old bulls with a select group of yearling bulls, many suitable for heifers. The bulls were bred, raised, and grown on Rosebud Creek. Two-year-olds summer on native pasture. Winter grazed on Rosebud Creek with some hay, and DDG’s. The yearling bulls are hand fed a grower ration of CHS Bull Challenger, DDGs, Flax Lick tubs and long stem hay. All bulls have had full vaccination program along with being poured. The EPD’s are estimations: formulated using sire and dam EPD’s. We emphasize functional and economical traits rather than chasing numbers. The bull calves have not been registered, if you need a bull registered let us know and we will register at our cost, except those listed as commercial.

We continue our pledge and responsibility in raising quality Angus cattle for all of our friends, old and new. We appreciate all the support from family, neighbors and friends. If there is anything we can help with, any information we can provide. It would be our privilege to visit with you. Please give us a call or email.

Thoughts and Prayers to all!!!
