COOKS HORSE BUTTE 037

stamp his offspring with the OCC “248” look. As always, several top bulls come from this sire. We have used several sons for our own use. “248” turns 9 this spring, still 100% sound and active.

We figured it was time to go digging in the semen tank and start using our old herd sires again. If you look at the pedigrees of our older Shoshone cows you see this bull a lot. He was real nice complete bull that had the Shoshone look to him and he has added a lot of longevity to our cow herd. He is a full brother to our 165 bull that both us and McNamee’s are using today. In 2004 we turned 4 bulls out to breed our cows, when we sent the DNA in to be tested 29 of the 50 calves were sired by him. We never saw him breed a cow and you could not semen test him either. High libido in this bull.

Sells Commercial. EPDs estimated from granddam. This cow might be my all time favorite from her comtemporary group. Deep, thick, wedge-shaped with lots of expression to her. Her dam, a 2008 model, left us in 2021 and was going strong until mother nature caught up with her. 807 dam came from some cows we bought from Larry Leinhart with out papers. This is an outstanding cow family that just keeps setting the bar in our herd.

This will be the third year we have offered a group of commercial, bred 3yr old cows through our sale. All are F1 baldies out of our own, home raised cows, sired by Sparks Hereford bulls and bred back to McNamee Angus bulls. They will calve in two cycles starting April 1. We’ll sell them in two lots. High bidder will be able to take their pick of one or both lots. These cows are cake broke and used to being handled horseback. They’ve been poured for lice, vaccinated with Vira shield 4 +VL5, and they’ve always been on Vita Ferm Concept aid 10 mineral.

Reysed In Style is a junior stallion who was recently purchased by McNamee Angus Ranch. We, along with Buffington Performance and Ranch Horses, look forward to offering his offspring in our sales in the years to come.

“Vegas” is a big, gentle, palomino gelding. Anyone should be able to get along with this horse. He wants to please and should make a great all-around using horse. He is well built and will be able to withstand a lot of ranch miles. Just like in the past, if the buyer chooses, I will keep him for an additional two months following the sale and get some calving miles on him before sending him to his new home at no additional cost.

Sire Pedigree

“Casey” is a flashy sorrel gelding that has the potential to go in any direction you want, ranch or arena. He is out of one of our best producing mares that we lost last spring, so he will be the last colt offered out of her. He is a full brother to Wizard and Sawyer from our previous sales, he’s a good one! If the buyer chooses, I will keep him for two months at no extra cost and put some calving miles on him before sending him home.

Shine On Desperado

“Patty” is a well started coming 4-year-old filly that has the talent to go any direction you want to take her. She has the speed, size, bone, and foot speed to be a heading horse, breakaway/ calf horse, or heel horse. She’s been started on the Heelomatic and pen roped on as well as ridden outside on the ranch.
