The dishes below are our most popular choices for weddings here at the Ferry House Inn. This is not a definitive list, so if you would like something else – or you have eaten a dish here you would like, please let us know. Once you’ve shortlisted your menu, you email it to us so we can confirm it is suitable. Your menu, once agreed, will then be confirmed to you in writing. Food plays a huge part of every wedding – every Wedding menu we cater for is completely different – from afternoon teas to formal three courses. The food we will serve at your wedding will be memorable for all the right reasons – 1/3rd of our wedding bookings come from previous Ferry House wedding guests, and another 1/3rd from restaurant visitors – a true testament to the superb quality of food our chefs create.

We produce on our family farm our own Beef, Lamb and shoot our own Game for our menus. We have an extensive kitchen garden supplying us with homegrown vegetables, herbs and salads, and we use as much locally sourced food as we possibly can. Canapés are an ideal addition to your reception drink, and ought to be considered if guests will be missing lunch / sitting down to eat at the usual time of 15:30/16:00 or after. Here is a small selection of ideas; you may choose up to three different canapés to offer:

Halloumi and Grilled Vegetable Salad is available for Vegetarians (or an alternative dish by request). Guests will be invited up a table at a time for self-service – this option is less formal and therefore only suitable for certain styles of wedding. For afters, please select a choice of 2 desserts for self service by your guests. *Please note, an equal proportion of each will be offered i.e. for 70 guests, we’d provide 35 cheesecake and 35 chocolate tart – therefore some guests on the last tables may only have a choice of 1 option, if one choice proves popular with earlier tables… If you choose just one choice for dessert, this will be waited to the table, which is preferable as in reality it helps the flow of the meal.

Cheese ‘Cake’ towers are designed especially for you with your selection of cheeses. Definite wow factor! Served with a selection of Chutneys, Crackers and Fruit.

Available in traditional newspaper print cones. Choose to add homemade Chipolatas, Scampi or Chicken goujons.

A lovely winter warmer – fresh homemade soup served in cups, complete with DIY Croutons, Bacon bits and freshly baked Focaccia.

A quick cheeky snack that’s easy & quick to eat, meaning more dancing time! You can add Chip Cones to your rolls, for an extra little something.

Breakfast is included in all our B&B rooms. Why not book in cottage guests for breakfast the next day too? From £12 per person.

Mixed Ice Cream

As with all our food, the bespoke nature means we can cater for special dietary requirements or unusual requests. We have catered for entirely Vegan weddings, Polish cuisine, a New York theme menu and – our favourite – a seasonal ‘Harty’ menu – focused on the main ingredients we ‘home grow’ (Beef & Game).

Nearly as important as the food! Whether you include drinks for your guests is your choice – and you can choose whatever drinks you’d like to serve as welcome drinks, at the wedding breakfast or throughout the day.

Our Main Bar is open to the public (unless you wish to opt for exclusive hire) and your wedding guests from 11:00 to 23:15. Our new wedding bar will be available from summer 2015. The private bar will be open from 12:00 – 23:15 for


weddings using the large day marquee, or from 19:00 – 23:15 for weddings using the small evening marquee. Weddings having their receptions just in the barn will block the bar access, therefore, this is not currently an option for weddings not having a marquee option.

The Cart has become an important part of Ferry House Inn wedding history! We will serve your welcome/reception drinks from here, outside on the patio (weather permitting). Or if you would like to provide a mini selfservice bar we can stock this with drinks for your day reception (space permitting depending on the layout of your wedding).

If you wish to provide guests with a drink after your ceremony or on arrival we will stock the cart with up to 3 drinks of your choice. Options which work well include: Pimms, Prosecco, bottled Beer (Peroni, Corona or Becks). Ribena for tiny kids, and Fentimans for older kids/non-drinkers. Self-service jam jars prove popular – we will set up 2-3 large Kilner jars with taps for guests to help themselves. Options which are popular include: No 1 Pimms, Special Edition Elderflower Pimms, Fruit based cocktails or mocktails. Want something a bit special? We can add a blackberry to your Prosecco, pop a stripy straw in your jam jar, personalised tags to tie on, serve the girls pink cider and the boy’s apple cider – we will work with your ideas. We can serve to the table the usual sparkling offering’s for your toast – Prosecco, Cava, Asti, Champagne. Fancy something a bit special? Hush Heath’s Balfour Brut Rose is a gorgeous pink sparkling wine that really has a special edge – it is served on the Orient Express, British Air ways First Class and was served to the QUEEN at her Jubilee!! We have an extensive list of wines available, from all over the world including some fabulous varieties from Kent. Don’t fancy wine? We offer an elegant range of sparkling ciders (apple or strawberry) which are the perfect alternative to wines. All tables have iced tap water as standard. Informal weddings may prefer informal speeches outside - this creates an intimate feel but is obviously weather dependant!
