The Academies: K-Prep 4 through 5th Grade

Archery - Come check out what Archery is all about! In Archery, you will start shooting from 10 yards and learn the basics first: parts of the bow and arrow, steps of shooting, whistle commands, and safety regulations After the basics are covered, arrow firing begins! All skill levels are welcome A certified USA Archery instructor will be helping students each week.

Ballet and Jazz Combo (Year-Round) - We are excited to welcome back Miss Abby Williamson to lead The Academies Ballet classes this year! Miss Abby provides a professional, artistic, and fun learning environment for all ages and levels Your child will learn elements of both ballet and jazz to help improve their strength, flexibility, range of motion, coordination, and balance Ballet and Jazz Combo class runs from August 26, 2024 through May 5, 2025, and will end in a showcase for parents to attend on May 16, 2025. (Showcase fees will be applied to the spring semester tuition.)

Ceramics - Students will explore hand building and glazing techniques to create 3 beautiful pieces. They will gain understanding of our walk with the Potter while working with the Clay, as well as witness the kiln firing process, relating it to the refining fire of the Holy Spirit.

Cheerleading - Go Royals! Cheerleaders will develop their current skill set by learning proper motions and technique, jumps, cheers, dance, and basic stunt techniques. Those enrolled will be cheering at the LS Football Night on September 6th!

Chess - A virtual chess class by Rookly Chess, designed to develop a rich chess culture and an outlet for students to play recreationally or even competitively. Chess classes will teach you to carefully plan and execute your moves, develop critical thinking and decision-making skills, and deepen friendships!

Chess Team

The Rookly Chess League opens the door for all students to participate in scholastic chess No travel, no hassle the matches are through Rookly’s online platform, featuring integrated video and a live leaderboard. Compete alongside 100-plus schools across the country, including Horace Mann, Riverdale, Seacrest Country Day, and many others. The matches are open to students in 3rd through 8th grade. Students may choose to be on campus or at home to compete on the Chess Team, and do not have to be a part of Chess Class to participate on the Chess Team.

Fencing (Beginner and Intermediate Courses Available) - Students will learn the exciting sport of fencing in this 5-week program. No equipment is needed - just come ready to learn and enjoy this unique sport! Students will be divided into beginner and intermediate groups.

Futsal - D2 Futsal’s objective is to provide high-quality futsal training to children interested in improving their soccer skills while also having fun Futsal is a dynamic form of soccer, highly recommended for both novice and experienced players who wish to enhance their abilities and game understanding. Their teaching methodology is based on ecological dynamics, where we focus on developing players' ability to read the game and improve their decision-making skills to effectively solve the challenges that arise during play The importance of life values, teamwork, resilience, and discipline are emphasized in the program

Get Cooking! - Come explore the basics of cuisine preparation at school with hands-on experiences that promote imagination and creativity Through the Get Cooking program, your little chef will build life skills, work socially with others, and be more apt to try new foods he or she created themselves!

Golf - Lower School Golf combines athletic skill development activities, academic lessons related to sports, and life lessons in perseverance, sportsmanship, and leadership. TGA Premier Golf helps players advance their skills, knowledge, and passion for golf while they build friendships and life-long memories. Recommend that players bring their own clubs if possible.

Introduction to Coding - Students will grow their problem-solving abilities, creativity, and project management skills through participation in this engaging class In this leveled program, students will be able to develop their skill set in principles of programming, including algorithms and logic, no matter what their knowledge base is. Students will also write and test their own codes.

Jump Bunch - Kids need lots of physical activity and JumpBunch provides just that! By introducing exercise in a structured format with a wide variety of sports, kids build coordination, balance, and confidence, making them more willing to give new sports a try as they get older.

Karate Zoo - With the help of our Muscle Zoo friends, we teach the fundamentals of martial arts in this high-energy progression-based program. Students learn & practice the traditions & skills of the sport, and receive colored belts and stripes for their achievements Hi-yah!

Little Artists Club - Spark your child’s creativity at our exciting arts and crafts after school class! We will have a few fun-filled weeks of hands-on projects with a variety of artistic mediums to explore

Lower School Choir (Year-Round) - Do you love to sing? Do you want to share your voice with others? If so, join the Lower School Choir and become a part of a musical family! The Lower School Choir is for students who have a passion for singing and learning new songs You will meet one day a week (either Tuesday or Thursday before school) with Mrs. Savage, the LS Music teacher, and practice your vocal skills and harmony. You will also have the chance to perform at various events throughout the school year and showcase your talent to your family and community. The Lower School Choir is a fun and rewarding experience that will help you grow as a singer and a person. Year-Round: Soccer Stars - Year-Round Program starting September 5th - a K-Prep 4 soccer clinic designed for those parents looking for a fun and non-competitive soccer-focused extracurricular

activity to add to their little one ’ s schedule Clinics are delivered in an environment designed to ensure that kids have fun, but also learn skills along the way!

Sport Discovery - This is a two-part series, especially for our youngest Lower School athletes! Focusing on the exploration of three sports, kids have the opportunity to develop skills with practice, apply what they’ve learned with confidence, have fun with gameplay, discover sports they love!

Sports include Flag Football, Floor Hockey, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, and Lacrosse!

Tennis - Tennis will focus on learning and developing the fundamentals of tennis including groundstrokes, volleys, serves, footwork, scoring, and match play. Lower School Soccer League - Our Lower School Soccer League is back! We are excited to continue partnering with other local schools for the fall. Practice will be held once per week at TFA on Wednesdays. Games will also be once per week, at rotating locations. Games will be mostly on Thursdays after school.

Lower School Volleyball League - Our Lower School Volleyball League is back! We are excited to continue partnering with other local schools for the fall. Practice will be held once per week on

Friday mornings in the Cramer Family Field House at TFA Games will also be once per week, at rotating locations Lower School Volleyball games will be mostly on Mondays after school, with an occasional Tuesday game. Please note that students who register for the Fall LS Volleyball League will get priority when registering for the Spring LS Volleyball League.

Rugby (Non-Contact) - Safe, non-contact sessions where teamwork, coordination, and confidence-building is emphasized through age-appropriate activities and games - all with no tackling! This offering is for all skill levels. Sessions are designed to provide children with a safe and engaging environment to learn and develop their rugby skills, whether your child is completely new to rugby, or is already hooked Little Swan’s Rugby’s co-ed program is designed to focus on fun, fitness, and skill development. First Fridays Lacrosse (Open to 3rd - 8th Graders) - Join Varsity Coach Reed Reynolds for one hour on the first Friday of each month to sharpen your lacrosse skills Come for just as many weeks as you can - or all five sessions! All skill levels are welcome and no equipment is needed. First Fridays Lacrosse is held on the Lower School field.

Music: Private Lessons - Ace Music Academy is here to help the youth of TFA achieve their musical goals! We offer a broad array of music classes in which we challenge our students to reach their full musical potential Our instructors teach these individual music classes using the teaching methods that best suit the student’s learning style and experience Choose from the following instruments: piano, voice, guitar, violin, trumpet, saxophone, and more!

American Red Cross Babysitting - The purpose of this course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care In order to receive the end of course certification, students must attend all 6 classes Please note this class does not include CPR
