Men lose lead; Ladies keep streak alive STAFF REPORTS The Rangers were upset by the Texas Riders, 70-68, at Masters Gymnasium on Jan. 10.

The Rangers, up 15 points at one point in the first half, couldn’t maintain the lead.

The Rangers returned to conference play Saturday when they faced Tyler Junior College in Tyler. Kilgore is 11-3 on the season, sitting at 3-1 in Region XIV play.

On Jan. 7, Fred Mattison led the Rangers with 17 points as KC knocked off Houston Community College Southwest, 85-70, at Masters

Gymnasium. The game was close most of the way, but the Rangers pulled away.

Other high scorers for KC were Braylon Lazare with 11 and Ashton Khan with 10.

The Lady Rangers won their fourth consecutive game of the season against Angelina College in Lufkin, 75-57, Jan. 11.

Aundrea Gamble scored 26 points, with 16 in the second half to help the Lady Rangers build a 60-38 lead. Alica Johnson added 10 points and had a team-high of 10 rebounds. Biance McGee finished the game with 15 points and eight assists.

Almanza begins his 12th season as play-by-play voice for the KC athletic programs. The list includes eight Region XIV basketball

tournaments, one Region XIV men’s regular season championship, four NJCAA bowl games, three SWJCFC conference championships and the undefeated season of 2001.

Almanza is the coordinator of marketing operations and outreach for KC, serving both the marketing and recruitment offices.
