Our Story
Before pivoting into womenswear, our founder Polly McMaster built a career in the City of London. Working in high-pressure environments, she wanted to feel confident, put-together and feminine, but quickly became frustrated by the lack of stylish clothing options for ambitious women. Spotting an opportunity, Polly launched The Fold in 2012. We’ve since opened a flagship store in Chelsea, and our award-winning designs have set a new standard for modern, professional workwear.
Today, The Fold has built a global community and our charity partnerships reflect our ongoing mission to empower all women (visit thefoldlondon.com for more). And so to shoot our latest collection, we thought it only fitting to return to where it all began. The City of London’s imposing architecture – from the Bank of England to the Royal Exchange – provides a striking backdrop to our beautifully crafted October collection; a reminder to pursue your goals, and do it in style.
Behind the design
Meticulously designed in our London atelier, our collections revolve around luxurious fabrics, expert tailoring and precise craftsmanship. We’re proud to manufacture most of our garments across Europe and the UK, using only the highest-quality textiles from artisan mills. And we have an enduring focus on flattering functionality – creating beautiful yet durable pieces that can keep up with your busy schedule and remain in your wardrobe for a lifetime.
Every piece in our October collection reflects this commitment to detail: from intricate folds and draping to the exquisite floral jacquard created by our Italian mill that appears on our striking Astor skirt (page 42) We’re also celebrating the power of the coat; heritage designs meet contemporary colours, with pieces crafted in luxury wool and cashmere. Modern, timeless and versatile, these are clothes and accessories to be worn and loved for years to come.
