The Language of Flowers Behind the design with Katya Maschenko Flowers are tactile, tender and enticing. They hallmark milestones, adorn our memories and feature throughout some of history’s most beautiful works of art.

For these striking styles I sought inspiration from my own garden. English roses are soft, romantic and feminine - a natural choice for painterly prints.

I start by draping the flowers around a mannequin to create a sense of where they might sit on the body and how the design might take shape.

I work alongside skilled artisans in Como, Italy, to translate the artwork onto luxurious fabrics bringing them to life.

Linear drawings beautifully simplify the flowers’ silhouette and are thoughtfully placed to contour the body. Watercolour swirls echo the curves of a spiralling rose; the generous volume of a full skirt mimics the movement of an iris in bloom, while delicate silk chiffon is light as a (flower) petal.

The result is a collection of dream dresses and separates that are timeless, elegant and beautiful to wear - a modern celebration of flowers.
