Black Friday kicks of annual Daisy Mountain Toy Drive BY TARA ALATORRE

ANTHEM – Walmart made national headlines when it announced that its Black Friday deals will start earlier than ever, anticipating that it will give away millions of free holiday cookies and cups of coffee to shoppers. But while the retailer plans on giving away millions of treats to eager shoppers, Daisy Mountain Firefighter Charities is gearing up to give away tens of thousands of toys to children at local hospitals this holiday season for its annual toy drive. The Daisy Mountain Firefighter Charities (DMFC) Christmas Toy Drive provides about 10,000 toys annually to children at the Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS) Children’s Center

(formerly known as the County Hospital), and the North Phoenix Honor Health’s Pediatric Emergency Care Center. Firefighters and their families will be outside the Anthem Walmart during the weekends collecting new toys and gift cards, kicking off its eighth annual toy drive on Black Friday, November 23, starting at 9 a.m. “We’ re only a five-station department [Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical] and we are able to provide them with enough toys for the entire year,” Jon Binsbacher said. “Obviously we could not do that if it weren’t for the awesome
