Anthem honors Colonel Thomas Kirk with Veterans Service Award

ANTHEM – The Anthem Community Council (ACC) presented its Veterans Service Award to Colonel Thomas Kirk (USAF, Retired) on November 11, at its annual parade and ceremony where he was recognized for his service to the community in front of thousands of people. Colonel Kirk, who retired from the United States Air Force, is known throughout the country for his service and sacrifice during the Vietnam War, and as a prisoner of war for more than five years. For his service, bravery and valor in combat, he was awarded the Air Force Cross, four Silver Stars, two Legions of Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Bronze Stars and
the Purple Heart. His service to the nation didn't end with his retirement from the military. He has shared his story and spoken on behalf of veterans at USAA, to the Veterans Heritage Service Project, the Military Officers Association of America, The Military Order of the World Wars, the Pima Air and Space Museum, at Luke Air Force Base, schools, ceremonies, churches, and clubs – just to name a few. “Colonel Kirk represents Anthem and veterans like no other. He is truly a force, an absolute credit to our community. He is our hometown

PHOENIX – Candidate Martha McSally conceded to Democratic candidate Kyrsten Sinema, on the evening of November 12, in the heated race for Arizona’s U.S. Senate seat that will be vacated by retiring GOP Sen. Jeff Flake (R). The race was being closely watched by the nation as the votes were being counted over the last week, while the two candidates
remained in a nearly dead heat. Sinema’s victory will give Arizona its first female U.S. Senator. She is also the state’s first democrat to get elected to the senate in decades, and is the first openly bi-sexual senator in history. The following are the unofficial election results for
