Multimillion-dollar redevelopment of The Shops at Norterra nears completion PHOENIX – RED Development announced that it is nearing completion on a multimillion-dollar redevelopment of The Shops at Norterra in North Phoenix that will welcome new tenants to its dining and entertainment district later this year. The redeveloped area is located near Harkins Norterra 14 Theatre near Happy Valley Road and the Interstate 17. Peoria Police arrest man for child sex offenses, seeking additional victims PEORIA – On August 30, Peoria Police Special Victim Detectives arrested 56-yearold Joseph Tejada on multiple counts to include child sex trafficking. A 14-year-old female victim bravely came forward and notified police that a male at the Peoria Library had approached her, asked her age and then offered to pay her money for sex. He gave the victim his phone number and then the victim went home, reported the incident to an adult and contacted police. Peoria detectives made contact with the suspect on the
Arizona, Maricopa County has record voter turnout in primary BY TARA ALATORRE
PHOENIX – Despite 62 polling locations in Maricopa County that were not open on time on election day, Arizona saw the largest voter turnout than any other primary in the state’s history. Nearly 1.2 million Arizonans cast a ballot, which is about 33 percent of the state's registered voters, according to the official election canvas. About 140,000 more voters in Maricopa County participated in the primary elections compared to the primary in 2016, which is a record overall turnout of 31.38
percent. Nearly 27 percent of voters in the county voted early, and there were 40 voting centers available around the Valley, which allowed people vote out of precinct, according to the Maricopa County Recorder's Office's final election results. “You could have gone to any voting center in the County, which is something new this year and that is something that has been dragged down unfortunately.
