The potential is evident in 2011 Cactus Shadows High School graduate Zach Vesledahl who took what he learned about sound engineering in the classroom and turned it into an internship at Universal Studios. The hope is apparent in senior Laura Morton, a student with aspiration of making art part of her career. While her talents once were limited to drawing and painting her newly developed computer skills have increased her spectrum of options. “I came into this class after failing technology in eighth grade,” she said. “I started messing around with Power Point and then I started learning Photo Shop and now I’m making graphics for authors.” Morton’s work earned distinction when her poster was chosen for last year’s Desert Foothills Film Festival. While she said she’ll likely start her post high school career as a hair dresser she plans to continue to give her art career a chance to grow. “With Photoshop you can create anything you want,” she said. “There are unlimited possibilities,” she said.

Home tour highlights architectural creativity MARC BUCKHOUT MANAGING EDITOR
Cave Creek History Museum is offering a chance to view some of the areas most unique homes during their “Homes Through Time” Home Tour set for 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Sunday in and around the North Valley. Now in its third year the event serves as one of the Museum’s biggest fundraisers. This year’s tour features five unique homes that range from Western traditional to unconventional. Suzanne Johnson, a long-time Cave Creek resident and founder of the non-profit arts and humanities group Gnosis, is this year’s chair. Johnson is
married to architect Michael P. Johnson and she coordinates the “Architects’ Own Homes Tour” each November. “Not only will you see dramatic and subtle design elements and landscaping, you’ll have an exclusive chance to meet architects Michael Johnson and Fred Osmon in their own homes,” Johnson said. “In addition, you can meet architect Will Bruder and builder Bill Byrne at a home that Bill and his wife, Carol, originally lived in.” Byrne’s home, which was completed in 1998, is currently owned by David Bills. “We’re happy to be a part of

Cave Creek will be one of the most popular destinations for motorcycle enthusiasts from around the country as they make their way to the Valley to participate in Arizona Bike Week 2012. The 16th annual event kicks off with pre-rally activities, beginning Friday through Tuesday with the main rally running through April 1. The 8th annual Buddy Stubbs Bike Week Bash from noon – 9 p.m., Saturday is one of the kick-off events to the week at the 13850 North Cave Creek Road location. Free to enter, the day’s events will include tours of the facility’s museum, live music from Loud House, RIG, Pete and the ShortCummings and Firehouse,

food and drink specials as well as a bikini contest. One person in attendance will win a 2012 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200. The Hideaway Grill, 6746 E. Cave Creek Road in Cave Creek, will be another prime location for riders. Established in 1998 by Arizona native Mark Bradshaw, the establishment has become a popular destination for riders from throughout the country. Along with food and drinks The Hideaway will have something happening every day during the rally, including bike builder expos, an outdoor vendor fair and live entertainment. According to Hideaway manager Rick Stahl, more than ten thousand bikers will
