Anthem purchase proposal expected MARC BUCKHOUT MANAGING EDITOR
Anthem Community Executive Officer Jenna Kollings announced a purchase proposal for a multi-purpose building in all likelihood will be presented at the 6:30 p.m., April 25 council meeting at the Anthem Community Center. “We’ve been moving forward expeditiously,” Kollings said. “We’ll have a full report at the April meeting. We’ll announce our plan, offer a due diligence period to give plenty of community notice. We’ll have public meetings and offer to make presentations in front of any group in Anthem that wants to hear from us.” The potential new building may serve in a number of roles in addition for providing a permanent office space for Anthem staff, who currently work at 3701 W. Anthem Way, on space leased through Aug. 31, 2013. The third annual run, which includes a 5K run/walk,
a 10K run and a 2K kid’s desert awareness fun run, is a fundraiser in the Town of Cave Creek’s effort to preserve 4,000 acres of Sonoran Desert land surrounding Cave Creek. Beginning from the Spur Cross Recreation parking lot the 10K run, which historically has been the most popular event, gets the festivities under way at 7 a.m. The 2K Kid’s event begins at 7:10 a.m. The kids’ event, which is open to children 12 and under, includes each participant getting a journal. Fiesta Days Rodeo brings fans out in record numbers MARC BUCKHOUT MANAGING EDITOR
Record crowds turned out for the Fiesta Days Rodeo, which drew to a close Sunday afternoon in Cave Creek. Attendance figures were still in the process of being calculated as of press time, but event organizer Traci Casale said it was one of the best turnouts in years. After a down attendance year in 2011, mainly due to bad weather, event organizers swung for the fences in approaching Cervi Championship Rodeo about providing the stock for the rodeo. “I contacted them thinking that they only turn out to the Marc Buckhout/The Foothills Focus
