Falcons offense soars in 3-0 start MARC BUCKHOUT MANAGING EDITOR
In comparison to a lot of other high school baseball teams the Cactus Shadows season started late. The team’s 3:45 p.m. home opener Friday started late when their opponent, the South Mountain Jaguars, were slow to arrive But by any measure the Falcons bats have reported on time as the 2012 season has gotten under way. In moving to 3-0 on the season the Falcons scored their low-run total of the season in a 9-0 thumping of the visiting Jaguars (0-6). Cactus Shadows used aggressive base running

and timely hitting and were opportunistic in taking advantage of South Mountain mistakes in the runaway win. “I really like the way we’re swinging the bats,” first-year coach Gaetano Gianni said. “So far every kid on the team has contributed at one time or another. In celebrating Arizona’s centennial the Desert Foothills Theater will revisit The Wallace and Ladmo Show with six performances beginning at 7:30 p.m., Friday and running through the 2 p.m. finale on March 25. Tyler, a former writer on The Wallace and Ladmo Show, also served as artistic director
at Desert Foothills Theater from 1999 -2001. “I really feel as though I’m coming full circle with this show,” Tyler said. “It feels good to be coming back again.” The play centers on what Tyler calls perhaps the highwater mark of the show, a period in 1964 when the show’s mock-rock band Hub Kapp and the Wheels, starring Pat McMahon, grew in acclaim to the point that Capital Records wanted McMahon to move to Los Angeles and be a music star. “The story of the play is about the show, but the bigger story is the question of how do we
measure success,” Tyler said. “I think good stories have the main story on one level, but a higher story on another level.” Tyler said he could relate to the decision McMahon ultimately made to stay in Phoenix. “He had the choice of moving to Los Angeles and being a rock star or staying in small town Phoenix, at least at that time and being a part of a kids show. Not everybody would have made the decision Pat did. The question is what is the big-time for each individual person. How do we
