Anthem council and association election winners announced ANTHEM – Anthem Parkside and Country Club Community Associations announced election result on March 22. Tim Fyke and Sharilyn Miller have been elected to the Anthem Parkside Community Association Board of Directors. Both new directors will hold two-year terms and will be seated at the April 20 APCA meeting. An election of board officers will also take place at this meeting. Dino Cotton has been elected to the Anthem Community Council Board of Directors as a
Parkside representative. He will serve a three-year term and will be seated at the April 26 ACC Board of Directors meeting, at which an election of board officers will also take place. Current ACC Board of Directors member Roger Willis ran unopposed for a second term as a Country Club representative and has been confirmed for the board seat. PHOENIX – What do dogs love? Playtime! The homeless dogs at the Maricopa County shelters are getting a new opportunity to play and interact with each other, giving them needed time out of their kennels and letting their individual personalities shine. Maricopa County Animal Care & Control has implemented Dogs Playing for Life, an enrichment program that lets dogs socialize in playgroups, allowing staff to assess the dogs’ sociability with each other and

Lions Club ‘White Cane’ Parade set for April 1 BLACK CANYON CITY – The 32nd Annual ‘White Cane’ Parade will be held on Saturday, April 1, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will be presented by Black Canyon Bicentennial Lions Club. The Lions Club is a nonprofit organization that provides glasses, hearing aids, and eye surgeries for individuals who can’t afford them. This fun community event is a good fundraiser for a worthy cause. This year’s parade theme is all about superheroes who are admired, which should prove to include an interesting

PHOENIX – Tempers flared at a March 22 public hearing over a proposed rate hike for Arizona Public Service customers. The Arizona Corporation Commission, which regulates utilities, held the hearing in preparation for a vote in the coming months.
