These fees follow multiple cuts and budget upheavals since the state budget came out in March. The 2015-16 state budget left the DVUSD with a $4.4 million shortfall.

The ‘A Day of Remembrance’ ceremony honors the service and sacrifice of veterans. The annual ceremony takes place at the Anthem Veterans Memorial in the Anthem Community Park, 41703 N. Gavilan Peak Parkway. Presenting the keynote address is United States Marine Corps Major General James M. “Mike” Myatt (Retired). General Myatt served in command and staff positions in all three active Marine Divisions. He served two combat tours in the Republic of Vietnam. General Myatt commanded the 1st Marine Division during Operation

Desert Shield and Desert storm (1990-1991). During a four-day ground war in February 1991, his division defeated seven Iraqi Army divisions in zone, seized Kuwait International Airport and liberated Kuwait City. Presenting the POW/MIA

ceremony is United States Air Force Colonel Thomas “Tom” Kirk (Retired). Colonel Kirk’s plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on October 28, 1967. Forced to eject, he landed in a field 28 miles outside Hanoi where he was captured by the Vietnamese
