ANTHEM – Educators across the Valley are gearing up for a new school year. For Principal Brittany Sutton, this new school year will be a special one: her first year as Boulder Creek High School principal. Sutton said in an email interview that her initial goals are to “begin building relationships with the BCHS community and to truly learn about this wonderful school so that I continue to honor the past and traditions while also determining the best areas to focus on for continuous growth.” “My ultimate goal is to create a collaborative culture that

NORTH VALLEY – While attempting to separate a German Shepherd and a rabid bobcat near the Anthem Country Club on July 16, a man was bit on the hand. The Arizona Game and Fish Department is trying to target the species that infected the bobcat with rabies, but it can take up to a month to get the results. According to Nathan Gonzalez, public information officer of the Arizona Game and Fish Department, there are a number of ways in which you can protect yourself against wild animals.

biggest fundraiser of the year,” Jon Binsbacher, president of Daisy Mountain Firefighters Charities and Daisy Mountain Fire Department Engineer, said in an email interview. “With help from the community we hope to raise $30,000 this year. Our organization is 100 percent volunteer. All proceeds will go into our general fund and will be available for distribution to families in and around the community.” Daisy Mountain Fire Department employees and friends and family work to help those in need through the charity, which is a 501(c)3 organization.

“Giving has always been part of the Daisy Mountain culture,” Binsbacher said. “Up until 2009, when a need was identified we would look to the membership for individual contributions… essentially we would pass the hat. In an effort to eliminate passing the hat and to create a funding mechanism to serve these needs, Daisy Mountain Firefighters Charities was born.” The charity encourages community members to contact them if they know of a friend or family member who has been affected by an unforeseen illness,
