ACC Board votes 3-1 for Lennar development annexation ELIZABETH MEDORA STAFF
ANTHEM – Circle Mountain Ranch, the development to be built on the north end of 43rd Ave., will be annexed into the Anthem community. The Anthem Community Council Board of Directors voted 3-1 at their Wednesday night meeting to approve the annexation and extend their formal goahead to Pulte. Board members Roger Willis, Rob Linder, Bob McKenzie, and John Balzer voted; John Birdseye was absent, Ryan Halleran abstained, and Tim Fyke, as Board President, did not vote. Pulte will be building 77 homes in Circle Mountain Ranch. Lennar will build 125,

for a total of 202 new Anthem homes. Construction is slated to begin in 2016; home sales are scheduled for 2017-2019. The new homes will provide about $150,000 in yearly revenue to

ANTHEM – Longtime community volunteer Mary Ann Derryberry will be honored
by the Anthem Community Council and the Anthem Veterans Memorial Support Team with the 2015 Anthem Veterans Service Award at the Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 11. The award will commemorate Derryberry’s tireless work in the community, including her 10 years as chairwoman of the Daisy Mountain Veterans Parade. At the request of the Veterans Memorial Team, the ACC created the Anthem Veterans Service Award in 2013. The

Parkside interim community manager hired for permanent position ANTHEM – Mary Beth Zahn has been officially hired as the Community Manager for the Anthem Parkside Community Association. Zahn has been the interim manager since last March, after the departure of former Community Manager Annette McCarthy. In a release set out on Sept. 17, the Parkside Board of Directors announced that Zahn had been hired for the position. The release noted that four candidates had been interviewed for the position during open recruitment after the job was posted on July 22. In the release announcing Zahn’s hiring, Parkside Board of

Diamond Canyon School holds Constitution Day ceremony ANTHEM – Diamond Canyon School commemorated Constitution Day, the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, with a schoolwide patriotic ceremony on Sept. 17. The DC band and choir performed patriotic music to set the mood, including a rousing rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner from the choir. All the students participated in a flag ceremony. Veterans who attended the ceremony were presented with handmade thank-you cards to honor their service.
