By Pauline Joy Villanueva

As I enter the world of my favorite movie, I can feel that I am also part of the movie. I know the feeling of hiding in the end of the world from the antagonist. My emotions are also involved whenever the characters bid their goodbyes.

Hidden Figures

Directed by: Theodore Melfi

Release Date: January 6, 2017

Hidden Figures is about the untold lives of extraordinary African-American women who were working at NASA as human computers who do difficult math by hand and in their heads. The movie shows racism, sexism, and the ambition to accomplish something. I enjoyed the casting and the way the director projected women empowerment and equality. It was by far one of the great movies I have watched. I highly recommend it because it will teach you a lot not just about Science, Mathematics, and Technology, but also how all people are equal regardless of their color and gender. I also use Hidden Figures as a motivation to never give up and keep trying to achieve all my dreams regardless of the challenges I face.

Itaewon Class

Directed by: Kim Seong Yoon Date released: January 31, 2020

I like this movie/series because all the characters have their own stories which inspire me to work harder despite difficulties. We must face and conquer all. It is all about a man named Park Sae Ro-yi who decided to open a bar. He wants to grow his business so that he can seek revenge, but life didn’t come easy since he’s not good at business. A girl named Jo Yi Seo helped him to grow his business and changed his life. I recommend you to watch this movie/series because it serves as a reminder not to be affected by what people say. Stand firm on your principles and in the end you will still be the winner like Park Sae Ro Yi.

Enola Holmes 2

Directed by: Harry Bradbeer Released date: October 27, 2022

The movie is about an amazing girl named Enola who’s being doubted by everyone and not trusted just because she’s a woman. With all of the judgment that she received, she didn’t stop being passionate and continued doing what everyone told her she couldn’t. She stopped discrimination against women. When everyone doubts and tells her to stop, she trusts herself more. She did not let other people’s words limit her dreams. I recommend this movie to all the girls who are struggling with society’s judgment. Like Enola, do not let others shrink your dreams, because you can do a lot more than you think you can.

Step Up

Directed by: Anne Fletcher Released date: August 11, 2006

Dancing was never one of my main talents. I thought that dancing was just a hobby that anyone can do. Step up changed the way I view dancing. Step Up is about a young delinquent named Tyler. Tyler’s got a passion for a hobby that he never really discovered, not until he met Nora, a beautiful young woman aspiring to be a successful dancer. This movie lives up to the saying “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great”.
