Barrie Day Camp It
is the closest camp to D.C that offers the traditional range of summer camp activities, with on-site swimming, riding, boating, and overnights. The Day Camp program also offers sports, nature, arts and crafts, dance, music, creative dramatics, archery, ceramics, karate, cooperative games, and special morning flagpole activities. Special event days throughout the season are eagerly anticipated by campers and staff. These perennial favorites are combined with a few new programs to make each summer unique. Our
Specialty Camps provide campers with a half day of activity in their favorite area followed by a half day in the day camp program. There are specialty programs for riding, digital arts, sports, nature study, art, dramatics, and martial arts. Our CIT Program is designed for our fourteen and fifteen year olds. It develops leadership skills and character, while providing an excellent opportunity for community service. Supported by an exceptional group of counselors and program specialists, campers are encouraged to give everything a try, create something new, explore the outdoors, respect and appreciate the natural world, and have fun. Barrie Camp is the summer program of Barrie School

Whale Camp
I
Aboard their 65-foot sailboat, campers collect data to document whale distribution, feeding and behavioral patterns. Hands-on experience using onboard marine biology equipment helps unveil the powerful and endangered processes of life in the sea. Campers explore beaches, coastal trails and fishing villages and investigate life in the tidal pools and bogs. Whale Camp takes students out to sea three days each week to directly encounter the whales and other marine life for an amazing marine science experience. Whale Camp is a place where inspiration, exploration and discovery abound.

n recognition of the value of Whale Camp programs at the Fundy Marine Science Institute, the College of the Atlantic is offering scholarships of $40,000 over four years to any Whale Camp alumni recommended by its Director. The College of the Atlantic is a renowned Liberal Arts college located on Mount Desert Island, Maine, home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on the coast of the Gulf of Maine. COA is an innovative institution, whose primary focus is the relationships between humans and the environment and is part of the EcoLeague of colleges. Whale Camp programs prepare students with a solid background in the marine sciences and a deeper understanding of Human Ecology. Of all marine science programs, Whale Campers have far more face-to-face encounters to closely observe and study whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals and puffins in their own natural habitat.
