DEVISING A NATIONAL CYBER SECURITY STRATEGY AND POLICY Course Director

Knowledge Management and Resilience in Cyber Security This course examines means for devising a national cyber security strategy, designing action plans for implementation, and maintaining a strategy’s relevance. The course is designed to deepen participants’ knowledge of cyber security in creating crisis resilience for the society and in managing different types of cyber crisis situations. The course is also meant to be a venue for the sharing of experiences on the cyber security strategy processes.
Colonel Aapo Cederberg Colonel Cederberg is the Senior Programme Adviser at the Emerging Security Challenges Programme at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. Prior to this, he was the the Secretary General within the Finnish Ministry of Defence overlooking the Security and Defence Committee since 2007.

This course offers a unique opportunity to unpack the process of strategy formulation – focusing on cyber security. Through a case study approach, participants are able to examine key strategy components and content – such as strategic vision and objectives. Presentations by practitioners complement the case study approach, outlining ways to establish action plans for strategy implementation. Throughout the course, there are likewise ample opportunities to share best practices among participants.
Upon completion of the course, you become part of the expanding GCSP alumni network and enjoy continued access to our events. Security policy conferences enable current and past participants to meet, debate policy issues and share ideas and experiences in an informal setting.

Participant profile
The course combines three elements that form the cornerstone of GCSP’s holistic learning experience: academic expertise, practitioner input, and the collective experience of the participants.
This course is targeted to national civilian and military cyber experts engaged in cyber security policy formulation. The course is also open to staff of international organisations, representatives from the private sector, and non-governmental organisations dealing with cyber security issues.
