GCSP
3rd Defence Attaché Orientation Module for East African Countries
The Geneva Centre for Security Policy is an international foundation with 45 member states from across the globe that provides forwardthinking and innovative solutions for leaders and policymakers concerned with international affairs and security in today’s complex, globalised world.
In complement to national training, the GSCP offers an orientation module for new Defence Attachés and civil servants involved in international relations. The course analyses major international security questions, especially with regard to the ‘New Threats’ agenda. It surveys practical issues of protocol, as well as knowledge and practices of international conventions. It builds confidence and experience though a simulation of a ‘Defence Attaché tour’. All aspects of the course meet the requirements of the Geneva Standards for Defence Attaché training.
Defence Attaché Orientation Module Globally With the funding support from the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport of the Swiss Confederation (DDPS), the GCSP, in partnership with renowned local institutions, organises this course regularly in the 5 following locations: Addis-Ababa, Amman, Dakar, Geneva and Sarajevo.
Key benefits for you The module has 3 principal objectives: • to improve skills and understanding of defence officials in specific defence and security issues; • to provide a strong basis for their future professional challenges as Defence Attachés; • to facilitate knowledge transfer in defence related activities and national and international procedures. The course also addresses the possible relationship of the Defence Attaché with home and national defence industries.
Target audience This course is designed for future Defence Attachés sent abroad and civil servants involved in international relations. Newly appointed or recently accredited Defence Attachés are accepted, places permitting.
