Message from our Secretary
Jai Ambe and Jai Shri Krishna Members!I hope you're all well and enjoying the warmer weather. The BSNL clubs are in full swing, and it's wonderful to see our community coming together. June is an eventful month with the longest day of sunlight on the 20th (Summer Solstice) and Pride Month, so display those rainbow flags with pride!
World Environment Day was on the 5th, but let's care for our environment year-round.
BSNL aims to become more sustainable, and your ideas are welcome. International Yoga Day on the 21st is a perfect time to get stretching — so join our weekly yoga classes at the BSNL hall.
June is also 'Great Outdoors Month,' so take advantage of the longer days to get some fresh air and reconnect with nature. I hope this inspires you to make the most of June and lead healthier lives. Keep smiling and remember, giving is living.

Diwali in London
This year BSNL have the honour of chairing the magnificent celebrations of Diwali in London (DiL). We’re also celebrating BSNL’s 50th birthday this year, culminating at Trafalgar Square with Londoners celebrating with us on Sunday, 27th October 2024! We would love to present a special item on stage this year, so we’re inviting ideas and volunteers to take part. We are also looking for many volunteers to help with this awesome event. If you have the expertise, we can use it to help BSNL deliver DiL in the following areas: stage, media, public relations, VIP hosting, stall holders liaison etc. Anyone interested in joining the BSNL DiL team, please contact:

Dear Friends and Families,
We are excited to share that YB’s have been actively volunteering with NishkamSWAT and the Life in London Trust, two organisations dedicated to making a positive impact in our wider community. We invite everyone to join us in helping these organisations in their missions. NishkamSWAT aids the homeless and vulnerable with food distribution, medical support, and welfare assistance. Volunteering here makes a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Life in London Trust improves the quality of life for disadvantaged individuals in London through community support initiatives providing food, clothes and toiletries to those in need. Your involvement helps build a stronger, more inclusive community. Get involved by volunteering your time, donating, or spreading the word. Every bit of support helps these organisations continue their vital work.

National Smile Month
Importance of Happiness and Inner Peace
This National Smile Month, we encourage everyone to deeply focus on their wellbeing, discovering what brings them joy and puts a big smile on their face. At BSNL, we take pride in helping everyone achieve this, fostering a sense of community. Whether it's weekly gatherings at the Elder's Club, enjoying music and Gujarati snacks, or the YB’s bouldering events, we come together to celebrate happiness. After all, true happiness is all about putting a smile on your face.
Happiness and inner peace are essential for a fulfilling life, deeply impacting our mental and physical health. Reduced stress and anxiety are among the key benefits, as positive emotions counteract stress hormones like cortisol. This leads to improved emotional resilience and better mental health.
Physically, a positive mindset boosts immune function and helps regulate blood pressure, reducing the risk of illnesses and cardiovascular diseases. Happiness and inner peace also enhance our relationships by fostering effective communication and empathy, leading to stronger connections with others.
Moreover, inner calm improves focus and productivity, allowing us to perform better in our personal and professional lives. A peaceful mind is more open to creativity and innovation. Spiritually, inner peace fosters mindfulness, increasing self-awareness and promoting personal growth.
Focusing on happiness and inner peace during National Smile Month and beyond can greatly enhance our mental, emotional, and physical health, leading to a more fulfilling life.

Elder’s Club
Jai Shri Krishna,The Elder's Club kicked off May with a vibrant Gujarat Day celebration, featuring Gujarati songs, bhajans, dances, chintan, and talks. Many members participated in a best-dressed competition, and the session concluded with chai, puri, and Gujarati snacks. This session was also broadcast via Zoom for elders at home for the first time.
In the second week, we enjoyed Bollywood singing with the theme "Bhooli Bhisri Yaadein," where attendees sang golden oldies and danced. Participants showcased their talents with live music and karaoke.
Week three featured a highly anticipated Bingo session, drawing great attendance. Members played enthusiastically, and many prizes were donated and won, bringing joy to all. The month's final session offered chit-chat and games, which is always appreciated. Though a short exercise session was postponed, we successfully conducted our first fire drill, thanks to everyone's cooperation.
We are grateful to our lunch sponsors and prize donors this month. For enquiries, donations, or lunch sponsorships, please contact us.
