PLAY YOUR PART. A SAFE CAMPUS FOR EVERYONE.
THE SAFETY AND WELLBEING OF OUR CREATIVE COMMUNITY IS A PRIORITY. We have introduced a number of changes across our campuses and some new ways of doing things so that together, we can all play our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and ensure a safe campus for everyone.
WE’VE DONE A LOT OF WORK TO ENSURE A SAFE CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT AND THIS MEANS THAT THINGS WILL LOOK, FEEL AND WORK DIFFERENTLY.
WE HAVE...
• R eviewed how our campuses operate, reducing the numbers of people in buildings and spaces at any one time, so it is important that you only come on to campus when you are scheduled and timetabled to. • R estricted access to our campuses to GSA students and staff only…there is no public or visitor access to our campuses at this time. • C hanged the opening hours to 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and you should only access the building you are based in and not move around other campus buildings.
• A dded new signage, protective screens at reception desks, introduced one-way systems and organised and used spaces differently to allow for social distancing. • D eep cleaned all our buildings and put in place an enhanced cleaning regime to maintain high levels of cleaning when we are back working together. • M ade sure within all our spaces there will be cleaning materials to allow you to clean and sanitise spaces before and after you have used them.
WE ALL HAVE INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY TO PLAY OUR PART…
SO IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU: • O nly come on to campus on the days you are scheduled and timetabled to or have booked slots for the Library and Technical Support Department and remember the building opening times are 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
• Y ou limit face-to-face meetings, opting for digital platforms instead. • R emember that visitors and the general public are not currently allowed in buildings.
• T hat you don’t move between buildings.
NEVER COME ON TO CAMPUS IF YOU FEEL UNWELL.
AND WHEN YOU ARE ON CAMPUS YOU FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES AND RULES WE HAVE PUT IN PLACE TO ENSURE A
SAFE CAMPUS FOR EVERYONE… NO TEMPERATURE CHECKING Following updated advice and guidance from the Scottish Government we will not be taking temperature on entering the building: the Scottish Government state they do not recommend the use of temperature checking employees as a means of testing for COVID-19 due to the low efficacy rate of this method. Further information about the reliability of temperature checking as a test for COVID-19 can be found on the MHRA website. •Y ou will still need your GSA Student or Staff Card for identification and to gain access through the security barriers.
•Y ou must wear a face covering when moving around buildings or where a two-metre distance is not able to be maintained, except in the Library where a face covering should be worn at all times. Face coverings should be worn in the following specific circumstances (except where someone is exempt from wearing a covering): - in the GSA library at all times; • where people are moving about in corridors and indoor communal areas (including toilets); • travelling on public and dedicated GSA and university transport; • in corridors and indoor communal areas in student accommodation. This includes toilets, common rooms and laundry rooms.
F ace coverings should be worn at all times unless you are medically exempt. To support everyone to feel safer and recognising that some people cannot wear a face covering due to health conditions, disabilities or other special circumstances where a face covering may cause difficulty or distress, we are recommending that anyone who is unable to wear a face covering requests an exemption card from Disability Equality Scotland. You can obtain a digital or physical card and to request one, visit exempt.scot We are issuing everyone with some reusable face coverings but remember you can wear or make your own.
• M aintain social distance and we’ve installed new signage, one-way systems, limited the number of people in certain spaces including studios, workshops, seminar rooms and lifts and temporarily reallocated spaces to new uses – all to help you keep safe. • R emember personal hygiene is a key tool in our fight against COVID-19 - so wash or sanitise your hands regularly – we’ve installed hand sanitisers at key points in every building. Don’t touch your face, do cover coughs and sneezes, don’t hug or shake hands and keep your own studio or workspace clean. • A nd make sure you follow the GSA’s Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Studio Safety guidance and instructions.
AND IF YOU DO HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19… YOU SHOULD: • N ot come on to the GSA Campus. • C heck your symptoms and get tested - the nearest COVID-19 test centre in Glasgow is based at Arc Sports Centre Glasgow Caledonian University or in the West End at the Riverside Museum car park. • T ests should be booked or ordered as soon as symptoms begin at NHSInform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816. • R emain in your accommodation – and do not leave for any reason other than to attend for a test. • M inimise contact with others in your ‘household’.
AND YOU MUST LET THE GSA KNOW IF YOU ARE A STUDENT:
• Tell us that you have symptoms and are going for a test at: covid19absence@gsa.ac.uk and when you get the result of your test tell us as soon as you get it using: covid19absence@gsa.ac.uk • If you are contacted by NHS contact tracers and advised to self-isolate you should do so and also notify us. • I f you are tested positive, you should continue to self-isolate and update us at covid19absence.gsa.ac.uk • I f you are self-isolating keep in touch with the Student Support Service (who can provide you with help and advice) and your Programme Leader.
