The Coult-Hard Truth a foreword by the editor
This is it. The day we’ve all been waiting for. Our time to prove, once and for all, who runs this town. The season has been a success for us so far, in the sense that we’re not at the bottom of the league and we’re actually above Arundel, but this is our chance to stick it to them on their own turf - show Barry Bundt he left the better team for a bunch of pie-eating idiots. Now we all know about Bundt’s betrayal of the club. After being fired from Coulthard factory, he had the cheek to beg Arundel for a job on the line and, subsequently, a place on the team. After both teams finished up training on Thursday they headed to The Rose. Obviously, Bundt was no longer a welcome member of the front room which us Coulthard lot occupy and so at around 8.00pm the traitor officially crossed enemy lines into the back - a ceremonial induction into the Arundel Rovers Hall of Shame. It was all too much for CFC’s Phil Stone who gave Barry a piece of his mind. A vicious shouting match broke out amongst the two, which Stone was undeniably winning at. It
was all fine, a discussion between two men, but then their lanky bastard of a goalie, Steve Frodsham, went and swilled Phil with the remainder of his Tetley’s, and it was a good three quarters full and all! I mean this was bad in itself but we all know Phil is more of a Smith’s man. What ensued was a fiery brawl. Mary Carlton put a stop to it with a ringing of the brass bell, which was probably for the best. It’s no secret she hates this rivalry and the divide it causes in the pub so I think we all owe her an apology. For one, its the right thing to do but, also, she’s put us on an ale ban and we just can’t have that boys. Anyway, after all that has happened, we need to smash them to smithereens today. We’ve been doing well and I have no doubt we’ll succeed. Let’s hope there are no more pints being flung about. Can’t promise anything though.

The Derby of ‘72 . . . The revenge of Freddy Ireland “It was honestly one of the greatest days of my life. We just destroyed them.”
That was how Coulthard F.C.’s ex-manager Freddy the after felt Ireland legendary Wanhall Derby of 1972. Coulthard had been having a rough season and Arundel Rovers were high on life - and pies. Their manager at the time - Billy Brazier - had been chatting big game down at the pub for months. It was also in this time that he had struck a certain kinship with Ireland’s wife, Marie. We all know Freddy is a reserved man but I can remember to this day the potency of the language he would use in regards to Brazier. The Derby was his chance to stick it to the man, and boyoh-boy did he. Coulthard F.C. demolished Rovers 5-0, a result I think we can thank
Freddy Ireland’s rage-filled motivational talks for. In 1956 Coulthard won the derby. In 1957-71 Arundel Rovers won. In 1972 Coulthard won. Lets replictate this almighty moment in Wanhall history and get the revenge we deserve once again, lets make it a Coulthard F.C. win in 1974, right boys?
