STRANGE BUT TRUE

20 op Five

Last month, I had the opportunity to escape the heat, and headed to Alaska for vacation. The trip had been on my husband’s bucket list for a while, and I must say, the beauty did not disappoint.

We were truly amazed by the beauty of Alaska, and the kindness of the people we met.

Prior to leaving, I decided the theme for The Grand Season this month would be happiness. One day while I was shopping, I came across a Christmas tree ornament which read, “The PURSUIT is happiness.” This caught my attention, because we’re often told to go find happiness. But the framework of this statement made me realize happiness comes to us when we’re in pursuit of the things we love.

So, this month—despite this crazy heat—I’d like to encourage you to spend a little time each day pursuing something you love.

Also, if you find your home is in need of a little TLC, I hope you’ll reach out to one of our amazing adverting partners— you’ll not only receive incredible craftsmanship, you’ll support the local economy.

Savor each day,

A Message from Sue Royer

“I was born and raised in inner city Chicago, the sixth of eighteen children with fifteen brothers. Being the oldest daughter, I was always a caregiver which I believe influenced me to pursue work in the healthcare industry. Today, I have three daughters and five grandchildren.

Years ago, I volunteered for hospice and knew immediately that helping seniors was my calling. I was soon employed by hospice but I felt something was missing. I realized it was the limited time I was able to spend with my clients. Having my own business allows me to provide the intimate hands on service needed in our community. I am committed to our seniors throughout their lives and I thank the community for the opportunity to serve.”

Bird Box: Barcelona (MA)

It’s been five years since “Bird Box” starring Sandra Bullock became the third most popular Netflix movie ever. Now, Netflix released a spinoff sequel. Mario Casas plays Sebastian, a father trying to keep his daughter, Anna, safe from the roaming enigmas that cause people to commit suicide. Despite some new elements, the film has been critiqued for being too similar to its prequel. (Netflix).

God’s Country (R)

This modern western is led by Thandiwe Newton (“Westworld”), who plays Sandra, a university professor living in rural Montana with her mother after Hurricane Katrina uproots their lives. Sandra grows unsettled as locals leave threatening messages when she doesn’t allow trespassing on her property. This soon escalates and devolves into a dangerous fight for her life. (Hulu)
