If you get annoyed easily, or cannot handle situations with a calm attitude, then it is time for you to learn how to deal with it. Patience is something every successful married couple will learn sooner or later. Try these suggestions to cultivate patience in your relationship: 1 When you feel a surge of anger, pause for a moment and let the anger go away. Try to hold back your anger until you are calm and cool. Think about the consequences of your harsh words on your partner. 2 In order to avoid unwanted arguments with your spouse, get away for a while and let the situation cool down. Act with patience and maturity. 3 To make your partner feel comfortable while

communicating with you, it is important that you listen to them. Hear out what they have to say about the situation, and then act accordingly, instead of impatiently making a decision. 4 Take some time alone. Let yourself and your partner have some quality time dedicated to yourselves, so both of your stress levels are reduced. 5 When there is a difficult situation at hand, work it out with calmness and tolerance towards the matter. This will produce an effective solution to the problem. Studies show, people who are patient towards their married life tend to have better mental health as compared to those who act out in frustration.

FIND YOUR HAPPY Vacations are supposed to be good for the soul. But often the typical formula for “getting away from it all” doesn’t work. Reseachers have found most people were actually not happier after a vacation, and felt the average vacation was not worth the trouble.

You don’t have to have a lot of money, or time, to get the most out of a planned vacation or staycation. Our brains have trouble telling the difference between visualization and actual experience. If you want to get the benefits from a vacation, even months early, starting dreaming about specifics now. Whether you’re returning to an old stomping ground, going somewhere new or staying close to home, find a handful of things to get excited about ahead of time and visualize them. This “anticipatory savoring” can significantly increase happiness. Find happiness in the details! Most people consider the most stressful aspect of travel to be figuring out the details: travel uncertainty, transportation and being unfamiliar with the location. To overcome these obstacles, come up with a game plan, including hotels, flights and potential activities more than one month in advance.

When your vacation is over, you can extend and renew the positive emotions from the trip by savoring your good memories. One of the favorite parts of a vacation often happens days or weeks after it is over—especially as you organize your photos to show your friends and family. Research shows, savoring experiences in a group setting with social support, is a way to maximize the benefits of positive experiences. Your brain gets a chance to relive them. If you don’t have any vacations planned, take some time to remember a great trip from the past. Remember, if you don’t pack your gratitude and positive mindset, no destination will make you happy. However, if you look for the positives, you’ll find them everywhere you travel.

HOLLYWOOD HAPPENINGS Are we ready for “Magic Mike’s Last Dance”? Channing Tatum took two years off and now is back with a vengeance. In addition to producing, directing and starring in the just released “Dog” and “The Lost City,” with Sandra Bullock, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt (March 25), he’s headed to London to shoot his third “Magic Mike.” Steven Soderbergh, director of the original “Magic Mike,” was set to launch a Broadway musical of the film, but after seeing the “Magic Mike” live show in London (there’s also one in Vegas), he decided they had to do a third installment instead.

Tatum admits, “Didn’t want to, we chewed all the meat off that—no pun intended. ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ will feature the sickest dancing we can create, a full dance-icle and The Super Bowl of stripper movies. PRESCRIPTION POWER While diet and exercise goals typically spring to mind when people decide to focus on their health and wellness, experts say that forming good habits relating to your pharmacy routine can go far in improving your overall health. Susan Peppers, RPh, vice president, Express Scripts Pharmacy, suggests these goals to make the most of your pharmacy care.

Ask more questions.

Many of us are hesitant to speak up when we have questions about prescribed medications or therapies. Don’t be! Pharmacists have clinical expertise and can play an important role in your whole health.

Never miss a dose.

The best way to see improvement in both chronic and short-term conditions is to take medication as prescribed — the right dose at the right time, in the right way. 26 26 THE THE GRAND GRAND SEASON SEASON •• MARCH MARCH 2022 2022

Try using a pill container, or a dose reminder or taking your medication as part of your daily routine, such as brushing your teeth. Talk to your pharmacist about the best time to take your medication.

Take your medications safely.

Taking medication the wrong way, or without knowledge of their effects, can be dangerous. Read and understand the instructions printed on your prescription label, so you can be sure you’re taking your medicine exactly as intended. For example, taking certain medications on an empty stomach if you’re supposed to take it with a meal can reduce their effectiveness. You’ll also want to be sure you don’t mix your medication with certain other drugs or

alcohol, or even engage in specific activities, like driving, if the label warns you against doing so.

Clean out your medicine cabinet.

Many people find they’re more likely to take medications properly if they have a well-organized medicine cabinet. Go through and properly dispose of expired medications or those you’re no longer taking.

Check-in with your doctor.

Your health can change, and your prescriptions should change along with it. Schedule time at least once annually to go over everything you’re being prescribed.
